“Convenient location; reasonable rates”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

Location was good; beds were comfortable; complimentary ski lockers, locks and beverages in the afternoon were a nice touch; friendly and helpful staff; rooms could be more soundproof; parking was convenient and ample.

We stayed at Aava 5 nights for a ski trip and were very happy with the clean hotel, friendly and professional staff and outdoor hot tub and pool.

Location: 2 minute walk to bars and restaurants and 5-7 minute walk to the Blackcomb and Whistler gondolas.

Staff: everyone who works in the hotel is super friendly and responsive. We had to change rooms twice (one was dog friendly and my husband is allergic to dogs and the other one had someone smoke in it) and the staff was very accommodating. They provide a free shuttle to the Scandinavian spa (highly recommend to visit) as well as overnight boot drying services.

Hotel and Rooms: overall, the hotel is very clean and well maintained. The rooms have good layouts and modern design. The only negative was that the mattress was way too soft for after a day of skiing. Outdoor hot tub and heated pool were certainly the highlight of the ski trip. The size and the temperature of both were perfect. It would be nice if they had a restaurant and a bar on premises but a 2 minute walk to the town was not a burden.

I would definitely come back to Aava for another stay.

Room Tip: If you are allergic to pets, ask for a room where pets are not allowed.

The room are clean. The bed is comfortable. Very quiet hotel. The personnel are friendly. The view is not the best. But who stay in the room when you are in whistler!!! The spa and swimming pool look nice, but to much busy for us to try. With the room you get a free locker for your equipment. The room are clean. The bed is comfortable. Very quiet hotel. Good location in the village with only a short walk to the shops and lifts. Room well presented and clean. Big drawback is there is no bar or restaurant in the hotel. I realise there is enough to be had in the village but us pensioners are knackered after a days skiing and sometimes just like to chill out in the comfort of our hotel without venturing out! Excellent front of house. Hot tub permanently occupied by youngsters surrounded by beers every time we looked. Put us off going out to use it. An enjoyable 5 night stay.

We spent nine nights in this hotel, on a skiing holiday in Whistler. The rooms were a good size and very comfortable.

The hotel is just outside the village, which means a ten minute walk to the gondola for skiing, but this wasn't a problem for us at all.

We were on the third floor with a beautiful view of the mountains and the snow. The hot tub was a great way to relax after a hard day on the slopes.

The one drawback of the Aava was the lack of restaurant. This meant that all meals had to be sourced in the village, which is sometimes a pest when you're tired and have very sore muscles...which is the only reason I've rated the hotel 4/5.

A nice bonus was the ability to borrow a go-pro camera from the hotel, which our daughter thoroughly enjoyed. You have the opportunity to do your own downloads if you have the appropriate electronic device, or the staff will burn a CD for you for ten dollars.

Thanks for the lovely stay!

Dear Cyclonic 4

Thanks for the review.

It is good to hear that you had a good stay.

The independent Canada House restaurant has closed, as you have mentioned - but there will be a new restaurant in place in the future - stay tuned!

It is great that you made use of the complimentary go pro camera - I hope your daughter's footage came out well, and we look forward to seeing you again here soon.

Kindest regards,

Chris
