“Whistler Alpine Guides - Glacier Hike and Via Ferrata”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

Did the Glacier Hike with Colleen and Via Ferrata with Josh in mid-September at Whistler BC. Both guides were exceptional - knowledgable and inspired confidence. Had a fantastic time! Highly recommend Whistler Alpine Guides - an terrific group of people and amazing experiences.

“Mt Matier climb - Sept '13”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

The people at Whistler Guides were very helpful with my questions (thank you Josie!) and after a few emails and phone calls I was able to figure out what I wanted trip was best for what I wanted. Mt Matier was a great trip, mainly because you get a full-on mountaineering experience, from hiking to a base camp to asceding up glaciers, and finally scambling up rock to a wonderful peak. My guide, Klemen Mali, was fantastic and we had a lot of fun. I recommend this trip highly; it is something I have wanted to do since childhood after reading Herzog's "Annapurna."

“Whistler Mountains”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

Journey to the Whistler mountains is awesome! Their alpine mountains resemble those in Switzerland! Perfect for winter tours. There are quaint small shops down the village for souvenirs.

“Via Ferrata- a must do!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

We only found out about this 2 days before we headed for Whistler and we are so glad we did. The Via Ferrata (Iron Way) is a fun way to get to the top of Whistler Peak. You could of course opt to take the chair lifts to the top, but that's so tame. If you want to try something new or different- this is it! The Via Ferrata is a vertical pathway using harnesses and fixed cables. There are metal rungs to help you along...if you wish to use them. Some unnamed people like the challenge of not using the rungs. All the equipment, including hiking boots is provided along with a guide who covers all the safety instructions. Our guide Josh was fantastic and we had an incredible day. The only suggestion I would give the Whistler Alpine Guides is to put more into their advertising, as no one we spoke with knew anything about this climb. So glad we found it! A definite must do!!!

“One more off the Bucket list”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2013

I didn't even know it was something on my list, but I can now check it off. In the 1960s the actor, William Holden made a movie called the devils Brigade and the final battle scene has the brigade climb the back face of a mountain to attach a German position, well know I know what that climb was like and realize I would have been better off shooting myself in the foot at the base. While not a excursion for the faint of heart or week and feeble, if you at worst a middle aged executive who sits at a desk all day and hasn't been true to his exercise routine this is something you can do. If you are not a big fan of heights you can do this, if you are terrified of heights, maybe a few beers in a pub is better way to spend the afternoon. Of course if you want a family adventure that you will speak of for years to come, a way to challenge yourself, an alternative to the run of the mill, then this is it. It is not easy, but it is fun. It is great to watch your kids succeed and feel good about what they are able to do without a computer or tablet in their hands. Go out there and do it, you will not be disappointed - in fact you will be glad you left the run of the mill behind. Hey, you never know, if they ever re-make the Devil's Brigade, your experience will make you a natural for the final battle scene - What you don't want to be a star!!!
