“Best Getaway Ever!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

I have a reputation for being overly harsh when it comes to rating excursions/meals, etc. However, this time I can't think of a thing to critique. We wanted quiet relaxation with snow..........that's all. We feel as though we actually got the best of it. Our experience at the Edgewater Lodge was way above what we expected. Other reviews claimed that it was pretty basic, but we've stayed in all kinds of resorts all over the world and have seen "Basic". This was definitely above average. The pictures on the webpage did not even do it justice. It was perfect for my sick husband to unwind and feel better.
The rooms were tastefully done and very cozy with huge windows offering a spectacular view of the lake and snow covered trees and ground. It was quite secluded, yet close enough to any necessary amenities, which we used only twice during our stay.
The restaurant offered the most exquisite dinner menu with items tasting better than you can imagine. The servers were very professional, yet extremely friendly and helpful. We also found the breakfast to be more than substantial, with everything being fresh and homemade. Nothing heavy and greasy. Coffee was fresh and hot and there were so many different kinds of tea to choose from. And, being slow moving creatures in the morning, we didn't feel rushed to hurry and eat and leave the dining area as soon as we were done eating. We were encouraged to sit and absorb the beautiful view for as long as we wanted. Newspapers were available to read at our leisure, and Kylie would come in and out to clear tables and answer any questions for us and would even carry on friendly conversation when we solicited it.
Unfortunately, we never got a chance to meet the chef, but he needs to know (and I'm sure he's been told a billion times) that he's more than competent. You can just tell that his heart is in everything that gets served. Everything looked so good, but tasted even better than it looked.
I could go on forever, but all I will say is that we are seriously looking into having our 20th anniversary party here. It's the perfect "venue" for what we would like to do. Regardless, we'll definitely be back to experience it again before then. We are really looking forward to it!!

The room was large but basic. We paid premium for the Christmas time and the location, and I was disappointed with the simplicity. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The snow landscape was magical. Breakfast was also simple.

We stayed 2 nights at Edgewater and found it to be absolutely fantastic in all respects.
The location being very quiet with views over the lake to the mountains is truly breath taking.
The rooms are large well equipped with a very comfortable bed, great shower, jug, tea coffee, hot chocolate and even biscuits.
The service could not have been better with our clothes washed and folded within a couple of hours and assistance with our GPS and all with a smile and friendly service.
Breakfast was also very good with plenty of choices in the charming dinning room.
If you want to be in the buzz and noise of Whistler Village Edgewater is probably not for you but if you want a quiet relaxing place with good service and facilities with magnificent views Edgewater is the place and only 5 minutes drive to the village.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to have the views over the lake to the mountains.

Just came back from a lovely weekend at the Edgewater Lodge for a wedding. The view from each room is absolutely breath-taking: beautiful blue water framed by the mountains. I wish I could go back! The rooms are well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. One slight issue was that our room got quite sauna-like in the afternoons, even with the blinds closed and the windows open. But there is a fan in each room, and I assume the high temperatures were slightly unseasonal for September. Breakfast was lovely - my favourite was the homemade granola and the delicious hardboiled eggs.
Thanks to Beth for all her help in making us feel welcome and with wedding set-up!

Stayed - Sept 1 - Sept 3/12. I have stayed here several times. Yes there are higher end properties in the village. But the Edgewater's location outside of the village is a major plus.

One the Plus side

- beds are comfortable
- The rooms are large and comfortable.
- The hotel is quiet
- Magnificent views.
- Whistler's excellent bike\walking trails are almost right next to the property
- rooms are clean.
- the continental breakfast is good. NOTE it is a continental breakfast. Dont expect to sit down and be served, that is not what is offered. Dont go to the hotel and complain about not being served. What is offered is no different then what many chain hotles like Hampton Inn, holiday Inn offer. Actually the breaksfast is better then those chains.
- excellent dinner. We had dinner one evening. My wife had salmon and I had filet. Both were excellent.

On the negative side
- the rooms need further updating. Carpets are looking old and the TVs are from the 90s.
- hot tub area needs to be kept cleaner

Thank you for your review. Always nice to see our return guests :)

In case anyone is wondering what exactly is on our continental breakfast buffet, here's the scoop!

Our breakfast has fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, homemade granola, select baked goods, hard-boiled eggs, toast & preserves, tea, coffee & juice. It is presented as a continental buffet where we encourage you to make yourselves at home and help yourself. Either Beth or myself are on hand if anyone needs anything & we are happy to help.

Cheers,
Kylie

This review is abit overdue but it is finally here! Stayed here in beginning of 2012 and this place is really mint! It's pretty much secluded but I just love the surroundings especially after that HUGE snowstorm! I will definitely go back!
I hope they fixed the hot tub though, I overheard one guest who had that unpleasant experience of hop-ing into the cold hot tub to later find out that it was not working, oh well!
Everything else was great, service, breakfast and hospitality! love it!

Room Tip: Make sure the hot tub works before going in :)

Thank you for your review.

Yeppers, Hot tub is all good. We have had several comments recently about the cleanliness of our hot tub area but I can assure you that I watch our maintenance man fight a daily losing battle with the surrounding trees & leaves and he is doing his best to keep the leaves at bay ;) But it ain't easy! The majority of out guests agree that the lakeside alpine glow & stargazing is worth scooping out a few leaves here and there.

Happy Hot tubbing,
Kylie
