“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

Nicely renovated rooms with a modern yet cozy feel, clean, friendly staff, very nice lobby, love the fact that it's pet friendly as Whistler is a great place for your pet to visit too! Delicious complimentary cookies in the lobby from 3-5 everyday with coffee! Great location, close to everything in the village.....It is above a nightclub, but did not hear any noise from the club.
I would reccommend the Adara Hotel to anyone who is looking to come to Whistler! Also love the rooftop pool and hot tub!

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with our family. We booked a loft room. The room was ready at check-in time - 4pm. It was clean and spacious. Decor is contemporary and if you're traveling with kids it's a good hotel as kids sleep downstairs in the sofa bed and parents can sleep downstairs.
Price is reasonable, you can't beat it in Whistler. I recommend calling to make the reservation as they may offer you a discount that is not available online.
The only downside for me was that the room did not have a tub, just a shower. After a whole day skiing you kind of need a tub to relax, but then you can use the hot tub outside. Also, some towels had really bad stains on them...
They give you free coffee and tea all day. Granola bars in the morning and cookies and apples in the afternoons.
Their staff were all really kind, especially the front desk, can't remember his name, it started with a K. He went out of his way one night to get us some things when all housekeeping were gone and we were missing sheets and towels...
You can walk to the village, mountain, etc...
So, if you're looking for a big room for under $200, that's the place to stay.
Keep in mind it's a small hotel!

Room Tip: Book the loft room or a bigger room.

We just returned from a 4-night stay at the Adara Hotel. The previous reviews about the noise at the Adara at night were spot on. We had a one-bedroom loft on the 3rd floor and could still hear and feel the bass thumps and noise from the bar/club downstairs late into the night. I would hate to think what it would be like on the second floor!

Housekeeping was hit or miss. One day we left early in the morning and came back after a day on the slopes to find the room had not been cleaned. We also called the front desk at one point to ask for extra towels and the phone rang and rang with no response. The gentlement that helped resolve an issue we had with our toilet one night was very nice though.

My wife returned to the hotel after some shopping and grabbed a couple cookies on her way up for me and our son. A man in a suit (that we later found out was the general manager) glared at my wife suspiciously. He stared at her from the moment she walked in until the elevator closed without saying a word the entire time. She was extremely uncomfortable and was tempted to offer her room number and show her key to prove she was staying there.

The worst of it came when we had to check out. We came down to the lobby with our luggage in the morning and asked Kieran at the front desk for our car. He came back and said that our car was blocked in by another vehicle and that he didn't have the keys to move it. Apparently the person working the night before didn't follow proper procedure or something. So Kieran was frantically calling around trying to find a solution, but since he was the only one working, he had to deal with people that checked out, a guest that came down to request something and answer calls to the front desk. At one point he had to ignore the phone to deal with our problem (it continued to ring non-stop). Meanwhile, time was ticking away and we were becoming worried that we would possibly miss our international flight out of YVR. It took close to an hour from the time we requested our car to the time Kieran pulled it up to the front of the hotel. We rushed to the airport to make our flight. We had planned to stop in Vancouver for a meal with friends prior to our flight, but we had to cancel those plans.

We called the hotel later (because Kieran explained that the manager does not get in until later in the day) and spoke to Sarah about the situation. She seemed to have an excuse for everything. She said that they knew where the key was the whole time and Kieran just wasn't looking in the right place, etc., etc. Plus, she had the audacity to say, "you made it to your flight right?" As if that was justification for taking close to an hour to pull a car out of the hotel valet that we paid $20 a day for!

Overall, the lobby is nice and the rooms had great amenities. However, the great location of the hotel in the village is negated by the loud noise from the bar/club downstairs. This hotel is also severely under-staffed for being in the peak winter season. The service that we did receive (particularly with the management) was atrocious. This was our 3rd time at Whistler but our first time at this particular hotel. We won’t be coming back. We had previously stayed at the Executive Inn at the village and the The Coast Blackcomb Suites and had great experiences at both.

Thank you for your first review on trip advisor. There can certainly be no excuse for not having cars delivered in a timely manner. We are pleased that your wife enjoyed the cookies that we bake every day from 3-5, it is with great joy that I see how much our valued guests enjoy the cookies. We will continue to strive for perfection and thank you for pointing out where we have to improve.

Cozy boutique hotel 5 min from everything including the lifts. Comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and well kept. No restaurant in hotel but bfast can be ordered in the night before. Fresh breakfast bars and cookies fill the hotel with a wonderful smell throughout the day.

My husband and I stayed in a loft room facing away from the village. The decor was lovely and stylish and the bed comfortable. The location is great, close to everything, and the manager and front desk staff were very accommodating. No problem leaving our bags and car after checkout until we'd done our skiing for the day. The warm cookies and breakfast bars were a treat.

Our stay at the Adara Hotel in Whistler Village was in a great location to walk to the lifts. The bed was very comfortable, and staff were friendly. However, there was no where comfortable to relax and sit because rather than having a regular couch and/or chair, our room had a plain 2-piece uncomfortable long chaise-type seat with no back to lean on comfortably. After trying several things, we ended up having to split it in half, move it around, push each half against the wall, and had to use 2-3 pillows behind us each just to be able to sit up semi-comfortably. It was either that or sit on the bed which is not a comfortable position. We really missed having a couch/chair to sit on in the mornings with our coffee, and after skiing, and was the most uncomfortable hotel room we have ever stayed in. Also, they were not great on replacing supplied items. Once we returned after skiing to find they hadn't replaced our 'regular' coffee pack so we only had 'decafinated' (which we never drink). My husband went to the front desk to trade our 'decafinated' coffee pack for a regular coffee pack and the gentleman told us 'he was tapped out' and didn't have any. So the next morning we had to go down to the lobby to get a small cup of their regular coffee to bring back to our room, which was too weak for us. However, the 3:00 pm daily baked cookies were good as were green apples on the counter for guests to take.

Hello and thank you for your review. It is nice to read that you liked so many of the features of the hotel. Our larger rooms, the lofts and suites, do have sofas for your added comfort I would suggest reserving a different room next time. You can look at our web site for a virtual tour of all our rooms. We hope to see you again in the future.

Just had a wonderful time at this hotel, with a 4 night stay. It's very close to the Whistler and Blackcomb gondola lifts, and to the shops and restaurants of the village. The room was cozy, and the beds were large and comfortable. The staff were friendly and polite, and it was lovely to head out on a morning with a warm, baked breakfast-nut bar. On an afternoon we were greeted with a plate of fresh cookies, tea and the sweet golden retriever, Kate. They have a nice hot tub too!

Room Tip: Some people mention loud noise for the rooms above the bar, but we were lucky and didn't experie...
