“Great location & friendly staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

The Lodge is steps away from the Whistler Olympic Park (where the medal ceremonies occurred) where they have free skating (skate rentals are $5) as well as shopping and restaurants within steps. The lodge has a hot tub (7-8 person), pool (decent size) and sauna. The lodge offers free coffee and hot chocolate at all times (via machine) and is manned a few hours a day to provide free goodies for your drink. The ski/board concierge was great (Brad) with all of our needs and the lodge offers a free shuttle to and from the lift so you dont have to walk or drive (Mark provided great advice). As in most parkades the spots are very narrow (drive a big truck) but we found a spot. Our room had a King bed and Queen hide-a-bed. Beds not the most comfortable. We are a family of 4 and found the room adequate for our needs. Room was near the equipment room so you could hear the elevator during the night. Not good if you are a light sleeper. Overall a good place. We would go back in the future.

Room Tip: stay away from the equipment/machine rooms as you can hear the elevators during the night.

Great from Check In to Check Out. Would stay here again, most definately. We were greated very promptly and had our room key in 60 seconds. We have a small dog and they had a package for him and had a welcome board with his name on it. My wife really appreciated that. The staff was very helpful and accomadating, we really had an enjoyable time.

Just spent last weekend in Whistler celebrating my 40th B-day and I could not have hoped for a better stay. Along with a great location in the Village, secured parking, the clean and nicely appointed room, it was the staff of the SL that really made this particular stay stand out. I'd like to give a special mention to Mark and best wishes to him and his family in 2013. Thanks to all! I"ll be looking forward to staying at the Summit Lodge when I'm fortunate enough to return to Whistler mountain.

We went to Whistler in December 2012 for a skiing holiday. The hotel is perfectly placed in the centre of Whistler village. The rooms were large (the bed was huge!) and clean and included a small kitchen. The small kitchen meant we could eat breakfast in our room and hit the slopes earlier.

The Summit lodge has a geat little hot tub out the back which is perfect for soothing those aching muscles after a hard day's skiing.

The Summit lodge has a staffed boot room and they dude there can give your skiing gear a complete service. My board needed waxing and edges sharpened and I was really impressed with the quality of service. If you want the board / ski servicing can be turned around really quickly (40mins).

As others have already said what really makes this hotel a great place is the staff - everyone was so friendly. Mark our TOTALLY AWESOME DRIVER drove us to the slopes each day and we only ever had to wait a couple of minutes for pick ups. THANK YOU MARK for transporting the skis for me! ;-)

In short this is a great hotel - book it now.

We stayed at SL for our honeymoon between 23rd-30th December. The room was gorgeous (3rd floor, pool side), with a HUGE comfy bed and a lovely bathroom. We could have used more storage space for ski clothes, but that was a minor thing.

It is a fantastic location - close enough to the slopes to walk, but just enough out of the way to be peaceful. Just over the road for the Olympic Plaza, it is a few second way for Crepe Montagne (amazing fondue) and Blenz Coffee (try the cinnamon buns).
The free shuttle to the slopes is invaluable. Mark, the driver, is one of those rare kinds who seems to genuinely love his job - he made us laugh every morning and afternoon, and we never waited more than 5 minutes for him. He also refered to us as 'the newlyweds' every day, which was really sweet :)
The hot tub was such a lovely way to relax after a day on the slopes and the Baileys/Kahlua/Cointreu hot chocolate in front of the reception fire each day was delicious. We didn't have time to check out the spa but it was one of only two in Whistler to make the top 50 spas in Canada list last year.
The ski/board storage is brilliant, and the guys in there were super friendly. Very cute dog in there too - go and see him! :)
Elements Tapas, which is attached ot the hotel, serve the MOST incredible breakfasts.

The only shame was that we weren't really made to feel like honeymooners, despite it saying so on our booking, and the young chap who checked us in wasn't particularly helpful, but the rest of the staff were excellent. These are very minor points though.

Lastly, don't be put off by the fact that dogs are welcome - there were lots at the hotel during our stay, but (unless you see them) you'd never know they're there - clean and fresh everywhere, every day.

We hope to visit again one day!

Room Tip: We were room 304 (pool side, 3rd floor). V quiet.

At this point we've been to whistler quite a few times and a different place each time! My husband and 3 year old son came with me for a short get away. It was wonderful. It was clean, well taken care of and the room was heated with a music station playing as we came in. The staff was really nice, even giving my cranky travel weary son a hot chocolate. Because we bought our stay with a living social online voucher it was not an expensive stay and it included parking underground (which would normally run $20 a day!) our room had a tiny balcony which two people could stand on side by side but no more. We had a small kitchen with a stove top, microwave and mini fridge. I was a little disappointed thinking we'd have a full kitchen. Beds were really comfortable and warm!

Best part was where the Summit Lodge is located! Right across the street from whistlers lower village! Half a minutes walk to the kids play ground and a number of amenities! We didn't have to drive once. I totally recommend this place to anyone going, especially if you're going to ski or snowboard. They have free and secure lock up for the boards and they also rent you ones if you don't have any for free too!

The location is ideal but what really sets this hotel apart are the people. Mark the shuttle driver seemed to predict when we were finished for the day and we were so glad to see his smiling face both before we hit the mountain and after. The staff were so friendly, enthusiastic, and just genuinely delightful people who really seemed to enjoy what they were doing and they excelled at helping the guests. It was a great stay!
