“Not bad, but meh”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We were looking for an inexpensive trip to Whislter before the winter rush. Got a deal on Hotwire for this hotel. Getting anything "cheap" in whistler is a challenge so we were not sure what to expect.

Good points:
Kitchen in the suite
cheap rate
Each room has a balcony
Gas Fireplace
2 person jacuzzi tub in the room
Very quiet

Bad Points:
Everything is very dated and just seems old
Mirrors surrounding the jacuzzi tub are badly installed and have mildew behind them
Unsure if jacuzzi had been cleaned before us
Room was boiling hot all the time. Kept the balconny door half open all night in November and it was bearable.
This is a tiny detail, but the matress did not have a fitted sheet. It was a normal sheet badly tucked in.

I would recommend this hotel to someone that will not be spending much time in the room. Staff was very friendly and location good.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing Blackcomb mountain.

“Good Location and Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

The Pinnacle Hotel is a very short walk to the square, shops and restaurants. We stayed on a Saturday night and it was very quiet. Our room had a large spa bath and comfortable king bed. Rooms are a little dated but clean and with small kitchen and sitting area.
The young woman on reception was extremely pleasant and very helpful with excellent tips on where to eat etc. She also upgraded both of our rooms which was a real bonus.

“Unfortunate stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

We stayed here as a team for a recent running race in Whistler, booking 4 rooms.

A few issues we encountered:
- our room's heating was either boiling or freezing, no in between
- it snowed all weekend, and both days (coming in from a run in the snow), my shower was FREEZING, as was my husband's
- on our 2nd evening there, we came back to the hotel to find 3 police cars in the drive. We asked reception if it was fine to go to our room. They ensured us it was "fine". Turns out...the "domestic" happened in the room next to us, and police had the woman in the hallway - who was yelling loudly. The incident went on for quite a while, making our walk-by the incident and eventual stay in our room quite awkward (never nice to hear people/police yelling late at night in your hotel). It would have been nice had the front desk staff warned us, or just asked us to rtn in a 1/2 hour or so...
- the elevator, parkade, and the hallway smelled VERY strongly of marijuana

While the hotel was well situated and it was nice to have a kitchen in suite, it is not a hotel I'd recommend or stay at again. I'm usually not someone who write negative reviews for hotels (unless they REALLY deserve it) - but with all the other options in Whistler - I would not seek this hotel out again.

Whistler Pinnac... H, Manager at Pinnacle Hotel Whistler, responded to this review
December 17, 2012
Dear SCF2010,

First off, I apologize for the delay in response to your review...

Second, you are correct with your description regarding that evening. It was an unfortunate dispute between some guests in one of our rooms that did impact on others and did result in our security staff having to contact the police.

We pride ourselves on being a quiet and relaxing, family friendly hotel. We are very lucky to be located within Whistler Village yet just far enough off the Village Stroll (100 metres/ 320 feet) that we are not impacted by the noise generated by the Stroll. However, we can not always control the actions of our guests and for that i do apologize.

We also did have 2 of our hot water heaters pass on that weekend These have of course been replaced and there has been no repeat of the water issues you mentioned. Again, I apologize.

I would very much like to speak to you in person either by phone or email. I can be reached at any time by calling our toll-free 1-888-999-8986 or by email: operations@whistlerpinnacle.com

I do look forward to speaking to you and thank you again for your review.

Best Wishes,

Patrick Renny,

“Pinnacle Whistler, B.C.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Whistler Pinnacle in October and it was fine. We have stayed there before so we knew what to expect. The rooms are getting a little dated and there was a sweet sickly smell in the room. The room was clean and I think they must have sprayed the room with something to cover up an odor but I guess we got used to it. The shower is nice and large but the bathroom is very very cramped. The bathroom sink area is very small so you can barely leave your toiletry bag by the sink. Also, what is with the mirror on the wall by the toilet? Do we really need to see ourselves while conducting business? My daughter went up to Whistler the following weekend and had booked the Pinnacle but when she saw the room she went downstairs and checked out and into another hotel. We thought it was adequate.

“Great Location in a buzzing place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

We were very please with having booked this hotel in Whistler as it is perfectly located for easy access to the centre of town whilst not suffering from noise at night. The reception was efficient and the room was spacious and fine for our needs. We also made use of the hotel's parking facility which was located below the hotel.
This was a surprisingly good hotel for such a good price in a location I expected to be expensive.
