“Brilliant location, but uncomfortable nights.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

An apparently very nice all suite hotel in a predominantly traditional Alpine Style, with an excellent Irish pub/restaurant, brilliantly located overlooking the piazza in front of the Whistler & Blackcomb Gondola's and chair lift base stations.

Friendly staff, but disappointingly having requested a twin bedded mountain-view room, we got the mountain view in a one bedroom suite incorporated a single king size bed, with a second bed in the form of a fold down sofa unit in the lounge area.

Unfortunately, the double bed was excessively hard on the one hand, whilst the mattress on the sofa bed had little substance against the sub-frame of the fold down unit, provided little support, resulting in much discomfort for our two night stay, not least because we needed to switch off the noisy air-conditioning with its outlet in the lounge - despite the very hot weather.

Unfortunately, our last night was also disturbed by excessive noise from the external swimming pool and sauna, which we overlooked and which was utilised by an Asian family with young children, who spent the latter hours of the evening running, jumping, shouting and shrieking, only to be followed by white youths, who similarly disturbed the night until the early hours.

A decent nights sleep makes for more enjoyable days and I reasonably believe the hotel should operate policies which ensure the behavior of all guests using the premises is conducted in a manner which does not intrude upon the amenities of their neighbours, particularly late at night.

Room Tip: If you require more than one bed, don't rely on the fold down sofa unit to provide a second bed...

Dear Guest, thank you for your feedback. For your next visit to Whistler I would suggest one of our spacious Two Bedroom Mountain View Suites featuring a King Size bed w/ ensuite bath, Queen Size Bedroom and Queen Size sofabed. Alternatively our Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre location may offer a more relaxed and quiet setting. Thank you again for your feedback as it helps us to enhance our performance by always aiming higher.

Sincerely,
Nicole Leddy - Director of Rooms - Pan Pacific Whistler - nleddy@panpacific.com

Very nice hotel, great location right beside the chair lift and on the village walk.rooms were clean and comfortable great pool with lots of sun.we go in the summer to whistler to mountain bike ,there is good bike storage and access to trails is probably best from this hotel.we would definitely stay here again.the hotel parking is expensive,we parked the car in a free public area about 5 minute walk from hotel which is fine, you don't need your car there anyways everything is within walking distance.

Room Tip: Rooms at both ends of the hotel have the best views and largest balconies

We returned to the Pan Pacific for a 3-night stay. Our room was comfortable (one-bedroom), with nice amenities. Staff was very friendly and efficient. Nice pool. Booking was completed via Expedia and we benefited from a 3rd night free. While we did not benefit from a mountain view, the views towards Blackcomb mountain was good. On the downside: sofa bed (where our daughter slept) wasn't very comfortable. Wi-Fi internet was also slow. Parking fee of $28 per night was not advertised anywhere and was a surprise for us. Despite these few negative items, we will come back.

Stayed in a suite. Super comfy beds and pillows. Great service. Excellent location. Super close to the lifts and gondola. Everything in walking distance. Very spacious. Clean. Welcoming.
Pool looked lovely but I didn't get a chance to use it.
I'd stay here again next time I am in whistler

We tried the Pan Pacific Mountainside because the hotel we typically stay at in Whistler was full. Overall it was a very nice stay. The weather during our stay in late March was very sunny so we were able to use the pool every day. The pool is large compared to most in Whistler, and being able to swim with a view of the bottom of Whistler is pretty cool. The ski storage lockers are a very nice feature, I like it a little better than some of the other hotel's ski valet system. The restaurant in the hotel (Dubh Linn Gate) was good, maybe a little overpriced but good food and good service.

Our room at the Pan Pacific was a one bedroom suite, overall the size of the room is similar to an executive suite at other hotels (about 500 sf), but is broken up a little more into smaller spaces (dining and kitchen area, separate bedroom, living room area). We've also stayed at the Hilton and the Four Seasons in Whistler - comparing the Pan Pacific to the other two:

The Pan Pacific has the best pool and hot tub.
The dining at the Pan Pacific is pretty comparable to the Hilton, just a different theme/style.
The furnishings at the Pan Pacific seemed to be in better shape than the Hilton, the Hilton is getting a little dinged up.
The layout of the room at the Pan Pacific was more chopped up than the room at the Hilton, I liked the more open space at the Hilton better with a group of 3+. Overall the size was about the same, but chopping up the space makes it feel a little smaller at the Pan Pacific.
Front desk service at the Pan Pacific is not as polished and consistent as it is at the Hilton and Four Seasons - the service was not bad it just was not very "professional". For example when arriving and unloading ski gear and baggage, no one ever asked if we needed help with the bags, not until we had loaded everything on to a luggage trolley and completed checkin - at that point I did not feel like I wanted to tip someone to push the trolley into the elevator since I had done all the heavy lifting. The service at the Pan Pacific is very friendly and helpful if you ask for assistance, but they don't necessarily anticipate needs - sometimes that is a positive.

We decided that when we ski in the spring we will go back to the Pan Pacific (because of the pool and better slopeside dining), but in the deep of winter we will probably mostly stay at the Hilton.

We love Whistler and go every summer for a family biking holiday. This property is close to the trails and has a great view of the riders coming down the hill. We found the housekeeping was over the top excellent during our stay. Most of the front end staff were pleasant and helpful. We would stay here again.
