“disappointed overall”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2012

We were located in the newer area across the bridge which was smart and well - tended but the Wifi DOESN'T WORK here. I have stayed in a number of much cheaper and untidier campgrounds where they have a number of signal points and usually manage to get on-line. There also are TOO FEW shower / toilet facilities; for 39 RV pitches; just 1 (working) toilet and 2 showers in the men's block is insufficient. Whistler is a good location for a short break though, and enjoyed cycling around and going on a bear trip.

Room Tip: Make sure if you want WiFi your pitch will get a signal

We were a bit hesitant about booking at this campground given some of the negative reviews. We decided to go to Whistler at the last minute in our Westfalia camper. Once we arrived, check in was very smooth and fast. The staff was very friendly and informative. Our campsite was as advertised--a RV site with picnic table, firepit and water/ electrical hook ups (they had standard 30amp for RVs and 15amp for regular household plugs). The sites are closer together than what you would find at a BC Parks campground but standard for an RV site. The bathroom was very clean with FREE warm showers (I guess they changed that).

As a family with two small kids we are always nervous about who our camping "neighbours" will be. As it turns out there were mostly families and older European couples. We had a great sleep both nights with no issues.

The location was great. We brought our bikes and our little ones were able to peddle into town in approx 15 minutes along a bike path. The main office has a field area with beach volleyball, playground, communal BBQ area and a putting course (didn't get a chance to do this).

The cost is a bit expensive for camping at $50 per night but that's what we are paying when we visit Bella Pacifica in Tofino later this summer. Considering the prices of hotels in Whistler I would rate this as acceptable. The wood to purchase in the office was $9 per bundle. This is about $3-4 more than you would expect to pay anywhere else. I'd suggest brining your own in from somewhere else. Didn't need WiFi so can't comment on this.

Overall it was a great experience. We are going to book again for later this summer.

Room Tip: I would suggest the partial service lots if you want less traffic going by but the full service lots...

We stayed at Riverside for a total of 4 nights during our time in Whistler. During our stay we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and the site to be well kept and set in lovely surroundings. The site is located only a short taxi ride from the village making it an ideal location to base yourself from if you are in an RV like we were. Like a lot of RV parks this one has free wifi which worked a treat with good signal strength where we parked (row a and later row c iirc).
Following quite a bit of après ski we decided to check out the on site cafe next day for breakfast / brunch. It served really good food and the prices were much cheaper than in the village.

The only negatives where the cost of the plot. At $40 per night we thought it was a little steep compared to other parks around BC.

We stayed in one of the log cabins for three nights with two toddlers (1 and 2.5yrs old). The cabin is very cosy, comfortable and warm. The cabins are not very large especially the kitchen is a bit small. Furniture, bedding, kitchenware are all very well equipped. Laundry facilities, visitor information, front desk and playground at the campground are all very good organized.

Only one minor detail, the bedding upstairs in the loft is really far upstairs. A very steep ladder going up that even for adults is pretty scary to take down during the night. We ended up sleeping all four us in the bedroom and living room.

The location of the campground is a bit north of Whistler in a quiet area. You can easily take hikes directly from the campground into the mountains which is awesome. It is an easy 20min walk into the village via a bike trail. By car it'll only take about 5min to the nearest grocery store, very convenient.

When we come back to Whistler we would definitely consider staying here again because kids will have more then enough space to play around the campground. Also the very laid-back, relaxed and outdoorsy atmosphere of a campground is always nice for children.

Room Tip: There is one row of log cabins available so it doesn't matter which one you get. Cars have to be...

Stayed in one of their new yurt setups. It's like a pre-setup tent/fort. One room, contains table, chairs, fouton, bunk beds. Everything ya need nothing ya don't. Bathroom and showers near by in a seperate building. Cozy even in the winter. Cheap accommodation is hard to find in whistler and this hit the spot. Highly recommended.

At £32 a night for a fully-serviced pitch it was a bit expensive but was a nice site. It had pull-through sites with a table each and a fire ring. The location was handy for Whistler. You could take the riverside walk (about 25 mins) or a free shuttle from reception - very handy, but a shame it doesn't run in the evening.
The toilet/shower block was lovely and warm, but you had to pay for the shower. The cafe was open from 8am-3pm, so there wasn't anything open at night other than a very basic shop. The cafe did good food with a big breakfast choice. The wifi was excellent where we were. Bears had been spotted locally but we only saw squirrels. Kid's playground on site.

Rustic log cabins made such a nice change from a hotel room. Beautiful setting & helpful staff. Free shuttle to the main village if you don't have a car. Being able to cook after 2 weeks of staying in hotels was fantastic! This place is a hidden gem & would appeal to Aussie families like us who like to stay somewhere with a bit of character @ a good price. Highly recommended. If they advertised this in Australia & Nz they would get so many more people here!
