Owner description: The Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre is a three-storey, 30,400-square foot award-winning First Nations tourism facility. Guests are offered a guided tour from a local First Nation cultural ambassador who share their knowledge and stories while visiting the many displays and artifacts on display. Guests enjoy a cultural performance of drums and song as well as the chance to learn, hands-on, an indigenous craft. The facility is designed to evoke a traditional Squamish longhouse and a Lil'wat Istken (pit house) and is surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery. Designed to preserve and renew local First Nations' cultures and to share these living cultures with the world; the experience includes Class A museum space to house rare artifacts, a gift gallery, a cafe and an 80 seat HD theatre.

...and really enjoyed our annual visit. There are several new and remarkable items on display, we never tire of viewing the displays and learning more about this remarkable culture.

“Aboriginal museum.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

This museum gave an insight into the first nation's history & way of life & how cultural traditions continue despite integration into western society. If you go to the information centre you can get discount vouchers for this museum & some other attractions.

“Interesting collection of carvings and good meeting place!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

interesting to see the carvings and wander through the center but the staff not very outgoing, but you may not wan that as you wander. Very nice building to go through, and worth it for that as well...the round room in the front looks like a great place for a meeting or event.

“Culture trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

We had a family ticket for 49 dollars even though our daughters are in their early 20s. The guided tour was an hour and was really interesting as our tour guide was a member of one of the two tribes that the centre is all about. You can take photos of everything except the short film that is shown and we ended up in a long house making a cedar wood bracelet!
