I stopped by the Pizza Hut in search for a quick bite before a show. It was easily the most terrible service I have ever received!
When we entered (about 2 pm), we waited to be seated for an inordinantly long time. I could see someone walking by the door to the kitchen, but obviously they weren't checking the door. When 'she' emerged from the kitchen, she just grabbed 2 menus and walked into the restaurant -- no greeting, no smile, no asking how many people were in our party. We assumed we should follow her. We found ourselves at a table that was only half-set, and one of the place settings was dirty.
We ordered our food and waited what seemed like forever for it. There were only 2 other tables in the restaurant. One of them was seated shortly after us, and they also seemed put off by the wait as you could see them anxiously looking around wondering if food was ever going to arrive.
When our food came, my lasagna did not look appealing at all! The server just dropped it off and said my garlic bread would be out soon. I have worked in the F&B industry for a looooong time -- I would never serve food that looked like that! It was completely burnt on the top, cleverly covered up with a bit more sauce. I picked off all the burnt spots and placed them on the side of the plate. I was starving and had an appointment to keep. My husband's pizza was delicious! My garlic bread eventually arrived when i was almost done my almost-inedible lasagna.
We finished our meals and waited for our plates to be cleared. We could see our waitress talking to the cook in the kitchen. Never saw her smile the whole time. We waited awhile with dirty plates in front of us. Never got a refill for our drinks. Were never asked if everything was OK. She never spoke to us at all. Eventually, she emerged from the kitchen again and picked up my husband's plate -- apparently picking up 2 was too much for her. We waited for the bill to come, When it came, we put our credit card in right away, but she had already returned to the kitchen to 'hang out'. We waited as long as we could, and eventually went up to the counter to pay, only to discover that NO ONE had a pen! We waited while the cashier ran around trying to find someone with a pen. Frustrated, I asked the cashier if the manager or supervisor. SHe pointed to our server and said "That's the manager". Sheesh -- we just laughed and walked out. If the manager (of all people) is offering service like this, the staff must get away with worse!! It was the only 2nd time in my life that I have ever NOT left a tip ... $0!
I later ate at the SilverStar Reort and had the most fantastic service EVER, even though being in a busy pub with a group of 13 that wanted seperate checks -- The SilverStar server got a double tip!
