“Just right~thank you!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2011

We were in Vernon for a family event and were looking for a quiet place to stay, away from the main highway...not easy in Vernon. We happened upon this Inn and were absolutely delighted with our stay. The weather, for September, was hot on our first day and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast on the deck. The room was on the lower level, with bath across hall, and it was just fine...really. It is super clean and offers all the usual amenities, and is just for your use so don't see what the previous person's issue was?? If you prefer, there are rooms with bathrooms but we didn't think this was detracting at all from our stay.
The hosts are friendly and knowledgable about the area and offers you a wonderful opportunity to swim in the lake and rest in a lovely lakeside inn ~ what could be better?

Room Tip: look on website...very clearly articulated.

When our daughter and her fiancée decided to get married at Kalamalka Lake we looked for a place to hold the reception. The Lakeside Illahee Inn turned out to be the perfect venue. In the spring of 2010 we checked to see what the Inn had to offer. The owner Peter Dooling was charming and helpful. Peter covered all the details thoroughly. He told us about everything available at the Inn but also made sure we were fully aware of all costs. He had helpful advice but was open to our suggestions and plans. We made our decision and booked the Inn during the summer of 2010 for the wedding reception in July 2011.

We booked the entire inn for the weekend of the wedding and the guests who joined us loved their stay. The wedding reception itself was outstanding - beautiful setting, excellent food, wonderful service, and a dance under the stars. We had guests from all over North America and they thoroughly enjoyed all the Inn had to offer for the reception and dance. Peter, his wife Debbie and their daughter Paige were wonderful hosts.

Thanks to the Doolings of the Illahee Inn who worked closely with our wedding planner, Bethany Armstrong of Peace of Mind Weddings and our caterer Kyla MacAulay of Gumtree Catering to help make the wedding reception a wonderful success.

Top ratings for the Illahee Inn and thank you from Alison, PJ, Ted, Maureen and Connie.

We stopped into Illahee Inn while driving through the north Okanagan. First impressions were wonderful. The property has a wonderful view across the lake and at the end of a quiet street.

The guest room was very large and clean, again with a wonderful view and private balcony (the only room with such a luxury). The bedding was substandard with scratchy sheets.

Breakfast was a disappointment. The Innkeeper was babbling away to guests while his wife was no where to be seen. The server, a lovely girl who seemed overwhelmed, did her best. NO choices were given, you get what you get. They even forgot our food allergies and that was are vegetarian. Breakfast sharp at 9h00 otherwise you will miss it, this is late in my opinion.

Overall, I get the sense that the owners are resting on their laurels a bit, and their guests should feel privileged for the honor of plunking down $200+ a night to stay with them. The 'rules' of the house are mechanical and like visiting a great aunt....use coasters, don't spill a drop on the hardwood (signs stated this often), only one sitting for breakfast, etc.

Overall, I don't think the Illahee offers very good value for money and I wouldn't return under its current ownership.

Travelling from Revelstoke to Kelowna via Route 6, we happened to see the signs for Illahee Inn. Got worried that we'd missed it because it's a way off the main road but got there eventually. The room was excellent with superb views over the lake and breakfast was excellent although it's a fixed menu - in other words, you get what you get.

Very friendly team running the Inn and while it isn't cheap, it seemed worth the money.

The Lakeside Illahee was the perfect setting for my husband and I to recharge our batteries: gorgeous lakeside setting in BC's Okanagan wine district, very comfortable room and ensuite, huge hot tub and terrace overlooking the lake, private beach with sand or shaded lawn, free use of double kayaks to explore the magnificent Kalamalka Lake, delicious breakfasts on the balcony overlooking the lake and the Okanagan hills...Add to this the friendly and helpful owners who steered us to all the best things to see and do in the area, and a five star sunset dinner with our favorite champagne and we were happy clams indeed!

Room Tip: All the rooms have a great view of the lake, but some rooms don't have ensuites.

We spent one night at Lakeside Illahee Inn....after driving Canada 1 from Golden with rain the entire way, it was wonderful to have a sunny evening to enjoy the Inn. Comfortable room with all necessities available and coffee served in the a.m. before breakfast.
We booked to dine at the Inn too and we were the only couple on the deck to enjoy a lovely evening sunset....nice to be served by a very attentive chef....food was tasty ( tho my husband called it sissy food) albeit the wine we chose was not ....we were here to taste the Okanagan wine and our first impression of the Pinot Noir was not good. I would have preferred to order wine by the glass so I could have changed. One had hopes for better wines for the next 2 days as we were heading South to the Naramata Bench area....and enroute we tasted and purchased many fine whites and a few reds.
In the morning we enjoyed breakfast on the deck served by Innkeepers.....pleasant and good meal with some tasty Okanagan cherries! Afterwards the Innkeeper presented me with the dinner bill which was a bit of a shock.......$201 Canadian (meals are $59.95 per person) seemed a bit steep altho I know taxes are high in Canada. I have dined in fine restaurants around the world from NYC, Paris, Berlin to Singapore and Shanghai and not spent this amount !! Perhaps I would venture into town for my meal next time.

Lakeside Illahee Inn is the most beautiful Inn we have ever stayed at. We stayed in the Pacific Grand Fir Suite and it's absolutly gorgeous and very romantic! It has all the amenaties as well as a fire-place, king size bed, jaccuzzi tub (for 2) and your own private balcony overlooking the lake.
Their Sunset Dining option is an exceptional experience. We were surprised that a red seal chef came to the Inn and prepared our gourmet dinner that was served on the patio . This was a highlight of our vacation because my husband and I were the only ones dinning! We were personally catered to by the chef. It was a very personal, private, and romantic experience. The meal was incredible!! We have dined in world renowned resteraunts and none compare to this fabulous meal!
The Inn is high enough to be able to see all the blue/green hues of beautiful Kalamalka Lake. The view is stunning! The up-scale accommodations, privacy, and peacefulness is like no other. Peter and Debbie are exceptional hosts, treating you like a member of their family while catering to whatever you need. No continental breakfast here, Debbie creates a gourmet breakfast that is absolutely fabulous! We loved our stay here and recommend it to everyone!!

Room Tip: Pacific Grand Fir Suite is at the very top of the Inn. Room a 1000 sq. ft. suite with the best view...
