Lively, fun atmosphere with sports and other celebrity memorabilia everywhere. But more importantly, very good food.
I had the Bubba Gump Shrimp Cakes eggs benny with grilled tomatoes. Loved it. My wife had a salad that she really liked (and she can be quite critical when it comes to salads).
We'll be baaack... Sorry. I do a lousy Schwarzenegger impression

“Worth waiting to get in.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

We've had breakfast at Shine, Floyd's, Plutos, Marmalade but nothing tops John's. Most important, the coffee is consistently good - not slightly watery like in other spots. And if it is cool due to being the last drug, the super-friendly servers instantly fix that with a fresh brew. The rancheros Huevos is a platter of delectible beans, turkey patty, salsa, guak and other tasty things on a beautiful well-cooked open tortilla. The bennies are excellent and the belgin waffle fine. Yes there is a wait and if it is beyond the lobby area, I sometimes pass on it - then wander around wishingI had stuck it out. Back to the servers - very efficient, friendly and quick with a quip. There is a contagious joy in the place so the chatty volume can be loud, if that matters. Sometimes the close tables means you talk with a cheerful stranger until their or your order arrives. Always interesting. Expect to not need lunch.

“One of a very few places we went to twice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014

During our month long honeymoon, my husband and I rarely visited the same eatery twice. However, we loved John's place so much that we returned for breakfast on our second morning in Victoria.

My husband's favourite was the Corned Beef Hash and I loved the pancakes - but they are huge!!

We went early due to warnings on trip advisor of a wait, so didn't find the wait too long. About 10 minutes seated in the waiting area of the first morning and a table straight away on the second.

“Reviews are better than the meals”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

So this place is alright, but it's noisy ("family friendly" = noisy kids), lines can be long, and there are a half dozen restaurants in town that serve a breakfast that's just as good. The Belgian waffle was pretty generic, but the cream cheese topping was pretty good. The raves are probably based on the Food Network connection, which you can watch while you eat -- seemed strange and kind of self serving.

“So good we went back 2 days in a row”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

We went here because it was near our hotel (Hotel Rialto) and I was craving a good breakfast. The line was long (we were there on a Sunday morning) but they got us in after a reasonable wait. The foot OUTSTANDING! Try the cream cheese pancake/waffle frosting - you won't regret it!
