“Afternoon tea for two”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013 via mobile

I had never had afternoon tea before, but now I am a fan. I loved the variety and especially the pastries. The staff was delightful and the food delicious. There was not the ambiance of the Empress option, but this was more of small cafe feel and half the price. Definitely a must!

“healthy isn't always tasty”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Had the home made soup and scone.

While the scone was fresh and flavorful, the soup (leek and spinach) tasted like sticky green water. I do believe they forgot the seasoning and the leeks.
Otherwise the experience was good

“Great Little Find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

We went here for their special Valentine's Day tea and it was absolutely wonderful. Definitely worth the trek to the Oak Bay area. The restaurant itself was very cozy, decorated with white tablecloths, and fresh flowers on every table. The food was excellent, with everything from delicious warm lemon scones, an array of sandwiches and mini quiches and savory tarts to scrumptious desserts. The women who run the place are absolutely delightful! Since we walked from downtown (over 2 1/2 miles) one of them even brought us a map and showed us a more scenic route back, past the governor's mansion and some stunning old Victorian houses and the Craigdarroch Castle. Can't wait to go back!

“Excellent lunches and teas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

The White Heather is a little gem tucked into an ordinary strip mall. Don't let the outside fool you as the inside is cosy with friendly staff. The food is delicious with two kinds of soup each day, good specials and tasty regular menu. If you want a proper tea, come to the White Heather instead of the rather grand Empress Hotel. Better value and wonderful food.

“Chintzy-poo but tasty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

I'm no spring chicken, but I was about the youngest person there. That's okay--more civilized. Lots of interesting offerings, including yummy scone-wiches stuffed with tasty fillings. Decor could be more colourful, but that's a matter of taste.
