“Awesome sights”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014

We were lucky enough to see all 3 orca pods swimming all around us. It was truly amazing to see the orcas leaping about in the water and passing so close that you can fully appreciate their size. The guys on the boat were incredibly knowledgable and the free hot chocolate on returning was most welcome. Well worth the money. An absolute must in Victoria.

“Great Choice for Whale Watching”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

There are plenty of options for whale watching but we booked Eagle Wing based on Trip Advisor and the advice proved correct. Very good fast boats with best range. They are not covered - many others also aren't - but this is not a problem - in fact I think an advantage for viewing. They provide all the necessary clothing to keep you dry (including sunglassess, gloves, beanies etc) and it fits over your own clothing.
Whales is what we wanted and whales is what we got. We followed an Orca pod for sometime and then went further out to where humpbacks had been sighted.
The driver/captain was very experienced, knowledgeable and friendly - and extended the tour as he had time available and the whales were there. I suspect he enjoys watching them as much as the tourists !
We also saw other sea life - sea lions, seals etc, but the whales are the stars, and if I return I would go with Eagle Wing again.

Thank you for your fantastic review, we do appreciate that you took time to write it. Yes planning ahead, reading Trip Advisor and following what others say is critical these days especially when it comes to booking an activity. So many companies we are sorry to say, exaggerate their company and it really means you need to read between the lines in a lot of cases. With Eagle Wing, we have been the top rated whale watching company in Victoria since 2007 and that proves that not all companies are created equal. We do operate a faster and better boat for watching whales and our captains and crew are the best in the industry. Thank you again for booking with Eagle Wing and hope to have the pleasure of your company again.

“Captain Dale Rocks!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

We went out on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. When we got to the office they bundled us up in warm water proof floatable gear...hats, gloves, pants, jacket. We got on the boat and headed out. Immediately we knew were were in good hands, as Captain Dale, who has a Masters degree in marine biology, begins to run down his credentials....including work with National Geographic.

We went out and saw the very loud seal island with several varieties of seals and sea lions on an island with a manned lighthouse. Then we headed out towards the ocean and within 15 minutes of leaving the seals we saw our first hump back....magical! I believe we say a total of 7 elegant humpbacks. Captain Dale did a wonderful job of explaining their culture, the relationships between mother, grandmother, aunts, cousins etc. He also explained how they know which whale is which. His love of the whales & sincere love of his job made the whole thing more delightful. At some point he had a hunch and took us way out (in his very fast boat), and we spotted a pod of beautiful Orcas. We traveled with them for about 30 minutes just watching them interact and move together. What a thrill!

If I ever go back, I WILL be joining Eagle Wing for my whale watching experience. Don't miss it...a once in a lifetime opportunity.

You are absolutely right - Dale does rock and just like all our captains, is the best at what he does. Fast boats, proper warm gear and of course a passionate knowledgeable dedicated captain make for a perfect tour with Eagle Wing. Each and every day we expect to meet and usually exceed expectations because we are #1 and with reviews such as yours, we will remain #1. Thank you so very much for not only taking the time to write this review but for booking with us, we know you had a choice and making the right choice is so very important when whale watching.

“The icing on the cake!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

Wow, what an amazing experience and we are SO pleased we decided to go whale watching with ''Eagle Wing Tours'.

We travelled from Seattle up to Victoria via the Clipper Ferry, on our journey we picked up quite a few leaflets on whale watching and to be honest I was quite confused as to who to go with, we decided to ask the concierge in our hotel (Delta Ocean Pointe Resort) and see what they suggested, Karen was very helpful and couldn't recommend Eagle Wing Tours enough, that was good enough for us, she even called them to see if they'd got enough people for the day we wanted to go, she also said that they would come and pick us up from the hotel, what a great service!!!

So the morning arrived for our trip, the weather that wasn't looking too great but that didn't really matter, to say we were excited was a massive understatement...Val from Eagle Wing came to pick us up from our hotel, she arrived spot on time and what a lovely lovely lady, very chatty and so nice! After a quick drive round to Fishermans Wharf we were checked in really quickly, once everyone had arrived they gave us a quick talk on health and safety and then Val gave a talk on the variety of species we may see, she is so knowledgeable and you can tell she loves what she does, after that we were given waterproof jackets, trousers and gloves, it was quite fun getting dressed up and they were very welcome as once we got out on the open water it was quite chilly!!!

Our crew for the trip were Jeff and Val, they're both marine biologists and so full of knowledge and such lovely people, we headed out of the harbour and once out on the open water it didn't take long to find the Humpbacks, it was so truly amazing to see them in their natural environment, I was totally overwhelmed by it all! We headed off towards 'Race Rocks' which is where the sea lions were, some of them were so big and so noisy, again it was lovely to see them in the wild, we were even lucky enough to see a pair of Bald Eagles perched on top of the rocks, totally amazing!!!

Our trip was due to last for 3.5 hours but we ended up being out for nearly 5, they'd had reports from other boats that there were Orca's in the area that morning, Jeff was desperate to try and find them for us and true and behold he did, he got a call from another boat saying that they'd been spotted at Race Rocks where we'd been earlier on, in no time at all Jeff had swung the boat round and headed off at full speed in search of them, I can't explain in words how amazing it was to see the Orca's, it totally took my breath away...and what was so cool was that Jeff and Val were as excited as we all were!!!!

After being in America for 3 weeks and seeing all sorts of beautiful sights this was definitely the 'Icing on the Cake'...I will keep this memory forever!!! If you're considering going whale watching I can't recommend this company enough, truly professional, so knowledgeable and most definitely value for money!!!!!!

That certainly was an amazing day - cold but boy did you get the VIP treatment. Val and Jeff are two amazing people and we are very fortunate to have them with us - they make every trip extra . Yes, if we can Eagle Wing will extend any of our tours after ensuring that it is OK with all onboard and give you the trip of a life time. And that they did on this day. Your review was super, as were your photos, Meeting expectation is what we try and do and by all accounts we exceeded them and for that we are thankful. Whales are our marine wildlife are our passion and we are #1 for one reason and one reason only, because of visitors such as yourself to take our tour and prove that Eagle Wing Tours is the best a what we do. Thank you again and many happy journeys

“Superb all around !!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

I went out on 25 October 13 with Captain Brett and Naturalist Dale. Along for the trip were my friends 12 and 13 year old sons. We saw so many animals, it was difficult to keep count - Humpbacks and Orca's alike. In addition, we had the opportunity to see many other marine mammells.

Brett and Dale were fantastic and highly skilled and knowledgeable professionals. They both had a wealth of interesting information to share about everything we saw and even inserted a few jokes into the mix which created an easy going atmosphere onboard the boat that I know was very much appreciated. The boys were still talking about their adventure 3 days later.

One could not ask for a better experience; I highly recommend Eagle Wing to anyone wishing to go Whate Watching in Victoria.

We want to thank you and your class for making time in your busy school schedule to spend some time with us exploring the Salish Sea. I know that everyone was excited before the tour and by now they are all wanting to become more involved with marine biology and maybe even becoming a whale watching captain. Having the opportunity to share their knowledge is a passion for all our captains and naturalists and working with school groups is one of the best ways we can do that. Looking forward to meeting up again and hope you will pass the message along.
