“Nice spot and great service, with good food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

Came on a Wednesday with my family. Had excellent service. Food was delish and interesting. Beautiful to look at. Cozy place. Will go here often. Fish pie, lamb, halibut and short ribs were all great. Apps and dessert hit the spot.

“Great new fine dining option in Victoria”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014

After reading the reviews here, I lowered my expectations a bit. I have to say, we had a great time. Great service, the dishes we had were all fantastic. Appetizers were the souflee which I thought was very sophisticated in texture and taste, and the haloumi which I would describe as "very good." For mains we had the gnocchi, which was excellent, and the lamb which was the "wow" dish for me. The chocolate cake was also great and the creme brûlée was also "very good." I would return there again and would not hesitate to recommend this place to friends.

“Excellent spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2014

We had a lovely evening here, catching up with friends. I thought I wasn't very hungry but everything was really good. We shared the pate and haloumi and followed that with the duck confit cassoulet. The food was excellent. If there was a down side here, I didn't notice it. The food, the atmosphere and the service were all spot on.

“Bijou Bites”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

Wonderfully simple, small and airy space dominated by a blackboard menu with typically buzzy fare. Brunch was quiet, made livelier by a beautiful cocktail called a "Sunrise" featuring Elderflower liqueur, Campari, and grapefruit juice. Nice alternative to a Mimosa and super refreshing. Portions of both dishes were good - muesli had great texture and elements, while the Eggs Benedict featured a thoughtful combination, though I found it a bit tepid and lacking a little spark. Overall a good experience, with great service and an amazing brownie bite served with the bill that will bring me back for more. Recommended.

“Cute surroundings but overpriced and lacking in quality”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2013

The room at Ca Va is cute. Very French and intimate. We loved the blackboard wall and that the tables had room between them.

The menu is limited but not unlike other similar restaurants.

Service was okay. The entrees arrived individually which was weird and awkward. Sometimes the waiter arrived and left without a word.

Appetizers - we had the ravioli and cheese. You get 3 pieces of ravioli for $12 and they were fresh but almost tasteless. The cheese was good and well prepared.

The pork belly was burnt and so hard I could barely cut into it and then the centre portion was tough. The sable fish was a tad overdone and there was too much couscous on the plate. The side of green beans was very good and one potato was not cooked and another rotten inside.

Creme Brule was good and could have been excellent if the top had been caramelized on the spot rather than being refrigerated.

The non-alcholic drinks were okay - Veneto's are better.

Bill with 3 glasses of wine for 3 people was $220 taxes and tip. An expensive night for mediocre.
For this price Brasserie L'Ecole, Camille's and Veneto are all superior.
