“So welcoming & hospitable!”

Gini was so accommodating - happy to fill us in on local history and best places for cycling, hiking and eating. One of the features of our room was a beautiful balcony with sunset views. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed for 3 nights in this lovely retreat. Gini and Roger made the place feel like a home away from home. The rooms were comfortable and luxurious, the balcony a nice place to relax, and the sitting room was comfortable. However, it was breakfast that really sold me on the place. Every morning we were greeted by a breakfast that was not only a joy to the pallet but beautiful for the eyes. Next time I am visiting Victoria I will be back.

Stayed for two days and was sorry to leave. Perfect hosts, excellent breakfasts, comfortable, clean, and spacious. The outdoor porch was an added bonus. One of the best values in Victoria. We were sad to not be able to use the fireplace, but it hardly detracted from our stay...it would just have iced the cake if we could! Will go back in a minute on our next trip out to BC.

Unfortunately we were only at the Birdwatch Retreat for one night, however it was enough to encourage us to go back whenever we are in the Victoria area. Gini and her husband Roger go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and right at home. The back balcony view overlooking the inlet is gorgeous and peaceful, perfect for sitting back and relaxing watching the sunset. Gini also provides a great breakfast and can offer plenty of information and ideas as to where to go in the Victoria area....highly recommend this great retreat ...Gid and Jo

Room Tip: can't miss with either of the two rooms available as each has it's own sitting area overlook...

The Bird watch retreat was a beautiful home away from home. We stayed for 2 weeks with Gini and Roger and enjoyed our quiet and spacious environment. The room has a fridge, ensuite bathroom, sitting room as well as a kettle/coffee press and utensils to have an afternoon snack back at the room. The view was amazing, over looking the inlet. Very relaxing to have an afternoon tea looking out over the water. Gini and Roger are both very friendly and wonderful hosts, offering many ideas for things to do in the area. Gini is an excellent cook and we enjoyed her baked treats and breakfasts! Should we have the opportunity to return to BC we will definitely try to stay at the Bird watch Retreat as it was a perfect spot for my husband and I to unwind from our day. The location is a quick drive everywhere, we stopped looking at the times to get places as it was always less than 15min no matter where we were going. Perfect in everyway for us.

Amazing rooms with views over Portage Inlet, private deck and ensuite baths. Excellent location on bus route and 5 minutes drive from downtown. This is one of those B&Bs where the owners are doing it for pleasure, so the value is second to none and the service is outstanding. Gini and Roger (the owners) let us up to our room, then invited us down to their waterfront deck for a glass of wine, which turned into an evening of pleasant conversation. The room, service and breakfast were all 5-star, yet we paid about the same as a character-less 2 or three star hotel downtown. Can't wait to come back - highly recommend!

Room Tip: Book the "Hummingbird Suite" if you can - while both rooms are large and have ensuite bath...
