“great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

we were upgraded to a room with a den, which had a sleeper sofa in it and its own fireplace and T.V., the living room also had a sleeper sofa, fireplace (gas) and T.V. and the master bedroom. It was all very spacious for three adults and warm and comfy, especially since when we were there it was very cold and rainy outside. Houskeeping brought up some additional tea's for us that I had requested after a particularly freezing day of walking around sightseeing, they were very gracious. There are heated floors in the bathroom, which are fabulous after a shower. We liked everything about this hotel, It is a "green" hotel. The front desk staff tries very hard, but seem a little frazzled sometimes, eventually they come through with flying colors though, just have a little patience, they are all incredibly sweet and helpful.

We reserved 3 Delux bedroom suites for our family group. We arrived via Clipper Ship on a Friday morning. We stored our luggage until our rooms were ready by 4 pm. We all walked to Crepes De Paris on 1313 Douglas St. but could not find the place so we back tracked and went up to 708 View St. to a less than a week old Itami Sushi place! The food was great! There was something for everyone from 2-5 year olds to grandparents! The lunch specials were very good.
Afterwards we went next door to the Dutch Bakery for treats! Mocha tart was delish and so were the Easter cup cakes!
We then walked around to the Bay Mall (Purdys!) and to the park. Then on to the hotel for unpacking and a swim and hot tub.
The hotel was very clean and the place was all in good order.
My only comment was that on the day we left at 4pm we had to sit for two hours and wait in the lobby for all the group to catch up and Taxi to the Clipper Ship. The Lobby was very cold (wind from large doors opening) and there were no sitting tables to play cards or a TV to pass time.
We did not take advantage of the kitchen only the fridge and microwave but next time we will.
The hotel was conviently located to walk to places such as High Tea at the Empress etc.
In our rooms we had two cozy warm fireplaces and two large TVs. The main room had a kitchen and a dining room table and a large living room. The bedroom had wonderful beds ...we slept so soundly!
The bathroom had heated floors and all was very clean. It had a door to the kitchen area and one to the bedroom area.
We had two doors to a small balcony and an adjoining door to one of the rooms where one group of our family stayed.
It was all very nice!

Stayed here for one night during christmas time. I was impressed with the rooms, they were very clean and spacious. It really felt like a little apartment. The kitchen is a great feature as well. The amenities were also great. The hotel was in a good location and we could easily walk to the downtown area. However, I did not like the customer service. My experience at the front desk felt really rushed and "here you go, bye." Needless to say, I would not consider staying here again if I find a similar hotel with the same star rating with the same price.

Liked this hotel. Hardwood laminate floors - although if you have someone above you with heels on, it can be a bit noisy. Front desk staff very nice, very helpful Good location where you can walk to everything and if you're catching BC Ferries - just just take the first right off the street and go straight and you're there! Parking garage is secure, which is nice.

Be careful if you use the washer/dryer, It's one of those units that does both. We selected 'dry' and the timer to dry off swimsuits we wore that morning and the wash cycle started and once it starts, the door locks and you cannot open it until it goes through a cycle.

My wife and I spend two days in Victoria this last week. We stayed at Parkside and were both pleasantly surprised with the hotel. At check in we were upgraded by the front desk as it was my wife's birthday (very nice of them). The room was very nice and really good size for us (two plus baby). It had pretty much all we needed with full kitchen and laundry. The Hotel had a wide array of amenities of which we only sampled the pool which we all enjoyed. The location of the hotel is excellent for all sorts including tourists and those doing business. At a 5 min walk from the Parliament buildings/harbor and right downtown you really can't ask for two much more.

All and all I would defiantly stay at this hotel and would highly recommend anyone looking to spend time in Victoria do the same.

As a former local, I was so impressed with this hotel on a return visit to Victoria. My studio suite was well equipped with a small kitchen (cooktop, microwave, fridge and dishwasher), living area, king bedroom, and spare lounge. I had 3 TVs and two fireplaces along with my outdoor patio overlooking St. Anne's lovely park. I took advantage of the pool which was often quiet in the afternoons and walking to downtown restaurants and nearby attractions was convenient. I booked 6 weeks ahead and stayed three nights, so I took advantage of a great rate through hotels.com. I would absolutely recommend this hotel. It's great for all kinds of travelers and easy to make a 'home base' when visiting Victoria for work or play.

I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Victoria as a family. It is close to the museum, Beacon Hill Park, and restaurants. The 1 bedroom suite is very comfortable and has all of the amenities for a small family. And,yes, the interior of the suite is a bit run down but it was very clean. The pool was nice and clean, too. I would definately recommend this place to anyone who wants comfort and convenience.
