“Truly magical!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

Arrived for a 4-night stay late Christmas night to a truly magical setting. The inn embodied the spirit of Christmas, from the decorations inside and out, to the wonderfully warm and friendly hosts. Scrumptious breakfasts and snacks, luxurious accommodations, thoughtful and welcoming touches throughout the inn have guaranteed our return.

We stayed only for a weekend, but Ian and Ann made us feel like extended family members. From the invitingly elegant suite, to the fresh-from-scratch breakfast, to the door-to-Clipper delivery at the end (for which they accommodated our past-checkout time sailing), they proved themselves consummate hosts. It may have been frigidly cold outside, but the romantic weekend away was as warm and welcoming as we'd hoped it would be.

The experience at The Abbeymore is so lovely, so comfortable, so truly special ...it's very hard to leave. Ian and Anne are sensational hosts, so caring and fun and warm. The food is beautifully and creatively prepared. I loved every aspect of my stay (2 nights) and have told all my friends about it, and will recommend it to anyone I know going to Victoria.

We stayed in the Master Bedroom. This is the third different room we have been in at Abbeymore.. Alll of the rooms have been wonderful. The heated bathroom floor was cozy.and the room comfortable and elegant. We also enjoy the living room and the fact that the other guests like to relax and visit with us (Ian built nice fires in the fireplace). We really feel at home there, as Ian, Anne, and Michelle are wonderful hosts with great senses of humor, and caring hospitality, making great local arrangements (reservations) for us, and the breakfasts are amazing gourmet productions. We will certainly return.

Try this place once and you will come back over and over again! Just like we do! Hospitality and food are supreme. The house is warm and inviting and even though you have a room the common areas beckon to you. We feel very much at home and plan on staying at Abbeymoore for years to come!

Room Tip: We have stayed in most rooms over the years. They all have special charm and the beds are perfect fo...

My husband and I were celebrating our 20th anniversary and wanted something special. We choose the Abbeymoore because of the reviews and it looked great on the website. We walked 3 blocks from the bus stop on Fort St. in the unusually cold Victoria weather, the house was decorated with lights for Christmas. Anne greeted us at the door with a welcoming smile and the house was warm and cozy. We were so surprised by the all that we saw. The house is so very charming, with the fireplace going and the Christmas decorations made it even more exciting. She showed us around the house and made us feel right at home. Our room (The Iris...which is in the front right of the house, with wonderful sunlight) was ready and waiting for us. The pictures on the website are lovely but when you are there it is so beautiful. We went out for the day and walked around downtown and went to the museum. The weather was so cold we decided to go back to the house and order some dinner and rest. Anne went out of her way to help us find just the right food to order. In the morning coffee was ready at 7:30 and I went downstairs in my Abbeymoore robe and poured a cup for my husband and I chose hot tea. Breakfast was served at 8:30 and we had stuffed French toast, bacon and fruit. The service and the food was spectacular! On Saturday we decided to walk to the castle which is on the next block over and then take the bus to Chinatown and Downtown for shopping. Came home late and our room had been cleaned and Anne had left a anniversary card with Truffles on our bed for us (Thank You! it was so sweet!) The bed was comfortable, the claw foot tub/shower was nice and we loved how the sunshine was in the room in the morning as we showered. Sunday morning breakfast was served by the ever so kind Ian, Eggs Benny with salmon, asparagus spears, tomatoes, yogurt, granola & fruit...oh my! We only stayed for 2 nights and wished we had a few more days just to hang out and relax at the house but we are already planning on taking a summer trip and will definitely be staying at the Abbeymoore. Everything was PERFECT!

The Abbeymoore hosts get high marks for hospitality. They obviously enjoy what they do! The inn is charming. The Primrose Room was roomy and comfortable. (Yes, we liked the soap enough to take it with us in the little baggie they provided!) Even though we aren’t big breakfast eaters, breakfasts were a highlight, good food and conversation in a great setting. We especially liked that we didn’t have to show up for breakfast at a specific time (“if you’re not here by 10, we figure you had a late night and aren’t coming”). The location, although on a somewhat busy street, is convenient and fairly quiet. Government House, just down the street, has some beautiful gardens that make for a pleasant morning or afternoon stroll. It’s just a short drive or a good walk to the Inner Harbor area.
