“Very nice location and very good accommodations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2012

This B&B is located in a very nice location and across the street from the Governor's House. So if you like to stroll and see some excellent gardens, just walk across the street. It's open to the public and free. The accommodations at this B&B were very nice for us. We had a suite on the ground level with a separate access. It included a mini kitchen, a lounge area with a couch and chairs and a separate bedroom with a large king size bed. The bathroom had a large jacuzzi/ shower and it was a completely newly renovated bathroom. Over all the B&B was very nice. The breakfast was good, nothing special but more than adequate. And, they are very accommodating for special diets. The main part of the B&B is very old but very clean. I would say it is in need of updating but if you like old style you will be very happy. All the people at the B&B are very pleasant. They couldn't be nicer or more helpful. If you are interested in seeing attractions, I recommend speaking to them as they were about to provide discounted tickets for most everything.

I would highly recommend the outside and lower level room/suite. Our friends stayed in a room on the second floor, which was nice but much smaller.

PS: you are in for a very pleasant surprise with the sheets and pillow cases they use. They're exceptional. And, they also sell them. If it weren't for the weight issue with my luggage I might have purchased a set.

Room Tip: Highly suggest the bottom floor rooms with the separate outside entrance. Very roomy and the bathroo...

My husband and I stayed here on our first trip to Victoria and instead of b & b hopping to experience different areas in town, we will be staying here again and again. The hospitality was outstanding, from the homemade breakfasts that were made gluten free just to accommodate our dietary restrictions, to the fantastic conversation and recommendations on things to do in the area. The rooms were beautifully decorated, and the location was outstanding.

This charming manor is the perfect way to experience Victoria--which is why we returned a second time. Yes, its the inn itself and well appointed rooms. The lovely neighborhood that provides easy walking to key attractions. And certainly the superb breakfast and thoughtful treats made available during the day. But as so many others note, its also the people and strong sense of hospitality. On this trip, we mainly interracted with Ian --- who was ever helpful, witty, and accommodating. Abbeymoore continues to be a gracious, lovely home-away-from-home.

Ian and Anne offer a wonderful inn experience that rivals any boutique hotel. Abbeymoore is exceptionally well cared for, by friendly, dedicated staff (and Ian and Anne of course). Expect a delicious, generous gourmet breakfast with a personalized menu and tasty treats left out for you throughout the day. As a gay couple we were welcomed with open arms. We'll definitely be back!

Hosts and touches could not have been better. Friendly atmosphere, snacks, coffee and scones, breakfasts that last til dinner. Create an atmosphere where everyone feels like family. Beautiful location. Can't wait to return.

Anne and her staff, Stephanie and Michelle, were wonderful and attentive. We loved the beautiful home, well appointed and relaxing. Excellent food. The Master bedroom is spacious and the front balcony is a lovely bonus, especially on a nice 70 degree day! We brought Mountain Dome sparkling wine from Spokane, our home, and they gladly put it in an ice bucket and brought up fluted glasses to enjoy it with. We plan to be back!

Room Tip: Room at the back of the house are quieter. The Rose room is quite lovely.

If there's a reason to keep my girlfriend and I keep returning to the Victoria year after year (this was our second time), it's Abbeymoore. Or more precisely, the folks who keep the place humming every day with copious amount of warmth, joy, and-- good god-- truly delightful baked goods.

While the attractions in Victoria may understandably get stale if you visit them time after time, friendship doesn't. And that's what it feels like returning to Abbeymoore-- like visiting a friend's place (albeit much better cared for, probably, than your average friend's house). Anne and Michelle (Ian was off on a well deserved vacation), as well as their assistants Stephanie and Serena (apologies if we missed anybody), were kind and generous as always, offering to help in any way possible to make our stay in Victoria an enjoyable one, all the while keeping the Manor meticulously spotless. They're also always up for a chat too!

I've never liked calling it "customer service", even if that's what it technically is, because to me it just sounds corporate and soulless. To me, the reason behind their generosity has less to do with customer retention, and more to do with the fact that they're just wonderful people. Case in point: Anne invited my girlfriend's parents, who were on the trip but stayed elsewhere, to breakfast at Abbeymoore. It was very generous of her to do so, and it made their trip that they can join up with us in the morning, not to mention enjoy the delicious breakfast.

Anyway, the inn itself is beautiful as always, and the pictures surely would do it more justice than my words. But of course, nothing compares to the real thing-- when you're sitting in the common area in person, on a lazy Sunday evening, port in hand, whittling away at a good book as the setting sun peers through the windows behind you.

We stayed in the Lilac room, and even though this was reputedly the smallest room in the inn, it did not feel like it at all. The room felt airy during the day, and cozy with the lamps turned on during the night. It was, of course, very beautifully decorated and immensely kept. The bathroom, also, was very large and nicely designed.

As for the little touches, there's an IPod/IPhone dock in the room, and two reading lamps, on each side of the bed, that clip onto books. On the ground floor, there's always beverages, snacks, and umbrellas available. In a way, that sums up Abbeymoore pretty nicely-- taking care of even the tiniest details that you didn't know you needed, until you needed them.

And if words can't do the place justice, then breakfast is an even more futile attempt. Simply put, they're delicious! Every course, from the fruits to the granola and yogurt that accompany them, to Anne's out of this world baking, to the hot course of the day. You'll never leave the breakfast table with an empty stomach or an unsatisfied palate.

So, erm, yes, we liked it!

Room Tip: Even though you probably can't go wrong with any rooms at Abbeymoore, the Lilac room is great fo...
