“Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

We just stayed at Binners for 2 nights in November 2012. We had booked Studio H, but as there were no other guests, Edward upgraded us to Cascadia Suite. We saw both rooms and would have been happy with our original choice but of course, took the upgrade. The bed was super comfy - we both had great sleeps and the fireplace was great as well - given the chilly weather. Edward was a great host, willing to answer any questions we had, give thoughts on activities to do, etc. The breakfasts were amazing as well. We thought it was such good value to stay - and wouldn't hesitate to stay again if we were back in Victoria.

Room Tip: All were beautiful :)

We had a wonderful stay at Binners' B&B. Its updated yet cozy decor suited us perfectly, and we loved that it's located in a neighborhood but within walking distance of downtown Victoria. Traveling by bus was a bit tricky to figure out, but it's a quick trip once you've got it figured out. You can also walk along a lovely waterside path with views of the Olympic Mtns and Beacon Hill Park to get downtown. Edward was extremely helpful in getting to know the area and gave us a free room upgrade, which gave us a more spacious setup in Studio H, with a large jetted tub, heated tile bathroom floor, gas fireplace, kitchenette, and small patio. We spent a fair bit of time lounging because it was so welcoming. Everything was immaculate too. The second morning, we had the best croque monsieurs I've ever tasted. Edward and Binners are so charmingly detail oriented that they changed out colored sugar crystals to match the linens each morning. The dining space is a bit tight, so guests inevitably sit together at the same table, but we enjoyed talking with a couple from Regina, Canada.

Dear PortlandTvlrs,

Binners and I appreciate the review you have written about us, and shhhh you're not supposed to tell about the sugar crystals ... it's supposed to be one of the surprises. Glad you enjoyed breakfast and the upgrade into Studio H. (The upgrade was our pleasure to give; we can only do it when it is works for all.)

Very lovely B&B in Victoria. Our room was beautifully appointed. They thought of everything. Heated bathroom floor, perfect reading light over the bed, big closet and kitchenette. All the fixtures and linens were top quality. The breakfast was delicious. Edward was a great host, with very good suggestions on things to do and places to eat. We highly recommend this B&B.

Room Tip: Studio H was perfect.

We stayed at Binners for three days this past October, and it met and exceeded our expectations.Edward is a very gracious host. The room was very well appointed and was lacking nothing. In the bathroom you'll find heated tile floors as well as any toiletres you may have forgotten. The setting is within veiwing of the ocean in a very nice neigborhood and close to the inner harbour.Vivian the young lady that doubles as the chamber maid as well as breakfast chef prepared two amazing breakfastsfor us.Unfortunatley we had to get up early to take the ferry back so we didn't have time for the third breakfast. In closing we have no hesitation in recommending Binnners for your stay in Victoria.

Nicely designed rooms, excellent breakfasts. We stayed three nights, 2 in Fairfield suite and one in Studio H. Would recommend Studio H for a couple as it has a small outdoor balcony. Rooms are outfitted nicely (kitchenette, wine glasses, bedside reading lamps, heated bathroom floors, etc) and gas fireplaces are nice touch to fight the chill. Lots of windows for fresh air.

Structured 8:30 breakfast time but that suited us well and host, Edward, served multi-course, gourmet breakfast which is a really nice touch (different each day). Well done Edward.

Hosts respected privacy (which is important to us). Daily house keeping via hired housekeeper is a very nice touch.

Good quality beds with duvets. Good location for walk to waterfront.

Very minor notes/suggestions for hosts:
Fairfield has some noises from appliances/services running elsewhere in the house.

WiFi coverage is spotty. One would think this isn't that important, but it is for travellers that make last minute plans!. It worked for us, just had to be patient.

For your female guests, my wife was missing a full length mirror prior to our evenings out.

Room Tip: Studio H is plenty spacious enough for 2 and provides added benefit of balcony.

We remember you well, Roydin, and how appreciative you were at our concierge services for you and your charming "bride", regarding recommending restaurants, suggested best travel routes, etc.

We do apologize for the inconveniences you spoke of and only wish you had mentioned them as they happened, because all of them are easily solved, and indeed we have made the changes already.

As for full-length mirrors, each room has one on its closet door.

And re the appliance noise, we do have an exhaust fan in our laundry room (below the Fairfield Suite) which was in an automatic setting. No other guests have mentioned this, so we didn’t realize it was audible in Fairfield Suite. We are grateful to know this now, and have set it to manual, so that it does not run when our guests are in.

Regarding Wi-Fi, we have purchased a Cisco Wireless Range Extender for the B&B which our computer store guarantees will greatly improve our Wi-Fi signal. (Again, no other guests have mentioned this before, otherwise we’d have installed it earlier).

We are so glad you enjoyed our breakfasts, the fireplaces, our efforts at designing guestrooms that have lots of natural daylight, and are outfitted with comfortable furniture and furnishings, and the quality of our amenities. We are also happy that you noticed our consideration of your privacy; that’s important to us too.

We hope Binners’ B&B will become one of the happy memories of your first trip to Victoria.

I was so excited I'd finally get to see Victoria, which has been on my bucket list for quite a while. And this time, I wanted to splurge a bit.

While we were there, my husband and I were going to be celebrating our 12th anniversary, so we thought we'd go all out. And I couldn't have picked a better place!

Edward was our host, and I was sad I did not get to meet Binners while we were there. We all had a lovely rapport pre-booking, so I felt like I knew them even before we arrived. This was good, because part of the reason I was going to Victoria was to meet all of my third cousins in BC for the genealogy I'm working on. And wouldn't you know, only a few weeks before we were ready to leave, I discovered that the restaurant where we'd booked our event had CLOSED!

Edward to the rescue. By this time, I had learned that he knew the lay of the land there better than anybody and contacted him in a panic. Did he know of anywhere that had a group room where we might be able to have an event? he gave me several, and Moxie's came through for us with the perfect location. I can't thank him enough!

We stayed in Studio H upstairs, and had such a wonderful time there. Our little servery came in SO handy when we made the jaunt out to the Merridale Ciderworks and brought back plenty of cider and a jar of chutney that needed to be refrigerated! The fresh sea air coming in the windows was nice and refreshing, and we awoke to seagulls in the morning. I couldn't do it because of my disability, but I highly recommend the short walk down to the park at the end of the block. You're right on the water and there's a lovely trail that winds around where everyone takes their dogs for a stroll.

The breakfasts alone will spoil you for LIFE! We had everything from lemon blueberry blintzes to Eggs Mexicana to French Toast...every morning we had a fruit course, an egg/meat course, a baked good, a special juice blend, and Binners awesome coffee. My husband is a terrible coffee snob, and he raved about it.

They're so concerned that you're enjoying their city, and are always ready with a tip or a recommendation or a map or brochure to get just about anywhere on Vancouver Island. And they take great interest in their guests, the reasons for their visits, and the fact that they have a good time while they're there.

If you want a quick bite out, head to Cook Street Village only a few blocks away. We had a great bite at The Beagle, and there are plenty of other little cafes and businesses there, including a pharmacy for anything you need.

I can't wait to return!

Room Tip: Studio H is upstairs and looks over the street, with a little side patio and French door. Lots of wi...

This was my first time to Victoria and to Binners' and it certainly won't be my last! I loved it there - everyone was friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and so inviting - I was so comfortable there! Location is great - just down the street from beautiful views. Edward gave great advice on things to do and was always available to answer questions and always with a smile :)
Thanks so much - I will definitely be back!
