We enjoyed our 3 night stay at this unique guesthouse. Although our room was small, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had been completely renovated. The shared common areas are very inviting, as is the gourmet continental breakfast provided. For guests who wish to prepare their other meals, there is a well-appointed kitchen.
Breakfast room has a lovely view of Craigdarroch Castle. This lodging is not really close to downtown, but we knew that before we booked.
The innkeeper is friendly and helpful.

Rooms are a bit tight, but nicely furnished, clean and comfortable. Renovations are apparently being undertaken and, when finished, the ambiance will be even better. Public areas (sitting area, dining area etc.) are comfortable and charming. Breakfast choices were excellent (cereals, berries, muffins, toast, etc) and it was fun visiting with other guests during breakfast. Located in a neat, well-maintained residential area, adjacent to historic Craigdarroch Castle, which is open for tours and very much worth seeing. Within walking distance of downtown Victoria, though it's a bit of a trek (9 or 10 blocks). Parking is on the street and it can be a bit of a challenge finding a space. Not handicap accessible: many steep stairs, and most guest rooms are on 2nd or 3rd floors. Laundry facilities on site at no extra charge: very convenient. Owners were away on vacation while we were there, but the live-in caretakers did an excellent job of taking care of us. Would definitely stay there again!

Comfortable and cosy room with wonderful period furniture.
Well located and I have always wanted to live in that area of Victoria ever since I was born and brought up in the city.
Innkeeper friendly and wifi accesible. Did miss a phone in my room for more privacy.
Price unbeatable.

Room Tip: Ask for upper floor (floors not soundproof and somehow guests wear shoes in the bedroom)and view of...

First, I should say that if you want to be close to Craigdarroch Castle, this is about as close as you can get without hiding out IN the castle. The views are very nice, if you have a room with a view, and they light up the castle at night, so it really is quite pretty. It's not very close to any other attractions, but it is a good place if for nothing else than to walk around the castle at night.

The common areas of the house are comfortable. There are a couple couches and there are tables and chairs for breakfast. They have a computer that guests can use to check email or look up directions. They also have a printer, which is nice so that we could print directions. They rent bicycles, but they did not have any available when we stayed.

The room was comfortable. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. There was enough hot water for showers. There was not air conditioning in the room, but the temperature was moderate enough that that wasn't an issue.

The breakfast was a little above average. There were homemade waffles with real maple syrup that we heated up in the toaster. There were cereals and yogurts. There was juice, milk, coffee, tea. And there were a number of pastries available.

The owner (I forgot his name! Sorry!) was very polite and helpful. He gave us dinner advice and had us feeling right at home.

Room Tip: Pay the extra to get a room with a view. It is the best thing about this B&B and is definitely w...

This B & B is in a great location and is good value. T
he neighbourhood was quiet and parking on the street was free. The room was fresh and clean and had its charm with antique furnishings complimenting the character and age of the building. The
bed was quite comfortable and the sheets were clean and good quality;as were the pillows. The included breakfast is found in a bright dining room adjacent to the living room; both rooms are a mix of antique furnishings with modern style. The living room sports comfy couches and a cosy fireplace. The breakfast itself was a pleasant surprise. Many included breakfasts in modestly priced motels are a
ghastly combination of the finest 7/11 can offer. This breakfast offered wholesome breads, banana bread, cereals and fresh fruits and yogurt. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this B&B, it was very good value, interesting, in a great location and I would highly recommend it.

I came to Victoria for a month for school and I feel soooo lucky to have found such an amazing place to stay plus I rented one of their vehicles!
-First of all I loved my room (202)!!!!
-Vivienne was terrific (she was the innkeeper I talked to daily)
-kitchen was awesome and so was breakfast (and the tea nook)
-laundry great!
Seriously I could go on and repeat the same things as everyone else but I won't instead I'll say this....
This place is perfect for the traveler who is looking for charm, friendly travellers, independence, an amazing location with fantastic neighbourhoods in every single direction, and peace and quite. This was the perfect home base! I can't wait to bring my fiancé back to the island in the future and stay at my second home once again.
Much love, Genene

This was my second time staying at Craigmyle and won't be my last. It's a delightful and comfortable place to stay, easy to find and great location if you want easy access to tourist points downtown or University of Victoria. Rooms have been updated, bathrooms are a little slice of heaven. My only heads up for travelers - you'll be facing lots of stairs, to get to the front entry and as well inside (unless you are in the sole main floor suite, you'll have 1 or 2 flights more to your room). We've stayed at the Empress before and Craigmyle meets those hospitality standards easily. The innkeepers and owners are a delight and make guests feel welcome. Lovely breakfast the food and setting, cozy public living area, easy access computers and wifi. I almost don't want to rave too much, and keep it a secret, but the owner/innkeeper deserve public kudos for high level of professionalism. Also, nice kitchen for guests to use. We didn't use it except to snag some wine glasses, it'd be great for longer term stays.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back have great view of Craigdarroch Castle.

Green Features: In addition to the low watt light bulbs and towel reuse, they have composting bins for guests to dispose of food scraps - in main breakfast kitchen and in guest kitchen.
