A true 'gentleman's club' atmosphere in a superb location. A few steps up to the entrance of the but worth the effort. Don't expect a porter to come to your aid - there appear to be none. Spacious, a little quaint and with a dress code that may not suit very casual travellers, but which was not too demanding in the breakfast room at least. Welcoming and helpful staff, and an excellent breakfast. Very well located, a stone's throw from the harbour with its many activities/attractions.

Room Tip: Our excellent room had no view of any consequence. Many must have a splendid outlook, but presumably...

Dear Roger,

Thank you for your kinds words. It is great to hear that you have enjoyed your stay with us. We appreciate all feedback received and note that the stairs are sometimes a little challenging when carrying luggage. In future, there is an alternative entrance down the driveway where you can then take the elevator up to avoid any stairs. We look forward to welcoming you on your next visit to Victoria, British Columbia.

Best regards,
Front Office Manager

We enjoyed the vintage building, elevator and room fixtures. I can't comment on the complementary breakfast because we had to get an early start up the coast. However, it looked like it would have been excellent. The September price of this room was very competitive if you want to stay downtown. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who appreciates classical architecture and antiques. We had a hard time finding this establishment. It was not marked well and calling the hotel did not yield useful information. We deliberately selected the least expensive room price and the view was predictably bad. Note that you will be paying a hefty parking fee for any of these downtown hotels. This hotel used public parking that is about two blocks away.

Room Tip: I'm not sure what the magic trick is, but if you want a view, don't book the lowest availabl...

The Union Club of BC offers classic, comfortable, refined luxury at it's finest. The common areas of the hotel such as the reading room, dining room, lobby and bar are so beautiful, and the rooms themselves are extremely comfortable. Oh and the old elevator -- too cool!

The staff were exceptionally courteous, and the free coffee and tea bar came in handy after long days of exploring Victoria.

I'm not certain this perk is always offered, but we received vouchers for free breakfast on each day during our stay. This convenience was so wonderful, as the breakfast was so delicious!

Truly a wonderful stay. I can't wait to return.

p.s. I rated sleep quality a little lower, not due to the Union Club itself, but to the flocks of seagulls everywhere in downtown Victoria that are so insanely loud! Being so close to the water, I guess it's to be expected.

Room Tip: The view out the front of the hotel is absolutely beautiful, but after talking to friends, the rooms...

We stayed at the Union Club due to a wedding reception we were attending. It is very central but you do need to be able to look after your own luggage and after unloading outside and checking in, the parking is closeby. The staff were very helpful and accommodating and our room was very pleasant and clean with a good breeze coming in the windows off Victoria harbour. The wedding reception was excellent and the food at the buffet extremely good. The following morning we enjoyed a very good breakfast with a very nice young lady who kept up with this rather large table of guests! No problem at all in recommending this hotel and it makes a change from the usual tourist places and is very central for walking.

Union Club is in midst of downtown Victoria. Easy to walk many places. Front desk staff were pleasant and helpful, accommodated our early hours special request one morning. In particular the Club's office staff were gracious when I had to use the business office for several hours due to a laptop failure. Room was good sized for two of us and the high King bed was comfy. Breakfast was superb.
The common rooms downstairs make you feel as if you are in London. Plenty of comfy chairs and reading materials. Would stay here again. We were here in sunny cool weather, and the open windows kept temps lovely.

Room Tip: Tips: wifi does not reach all rooms well, but if you head down to reading room there are comfy seats...

The Union Club in Victoria is an old Gentlemens Club, and is still used as one. Public rooms were from a different era when sumptious comfort and huge leather armchairs were the norm - very good! Room rates were reasonable but it's affiliated to several clubs throughout the world and you can get a discount if you belong to one of them. The Victory Services Club in London is one of them. Food and service were very good and the staff, as is usual for Canada, very pleasant and helpful. Bedrooms were comfortable but were obviously old, not that they weren't clean and well presented. The location, almost next to the harbour, was superb.

We enjoyed our stay at The Union Club in June 2013. The room was a bit small with no view to speak of - but it was comfy & we slept well.
The staff were formal, but friendly; breakfast was good & we made good use of the Reading Room. Plus, it's a great location.
Only downsides? - parking is available in a parking building which is a slight hassle; the steps leading up to the entrance are slightly awkward with suitcases.
