“Wonderful hotel in idyllic setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

We were not quite sure what to expect in Victoria as we added a visit on to our trip to Vancouver at the last minute. So grateful that we decided to visit!
We chose this hotel based on what other reviewers on Tripadvisor had said and we were not disappointed. On the contrary, the hotel exceeded our expectations. We had a suite of rooms on the 6th floor which were lovely and spacious, two comfortable en suite bedrooms, a nice lounge, a dining area and a kitchen. But what really made the hotel special were the quite stunning views that we had of the harbour. Sipping a chilled glass of wine on the balcony in the sunshine, watching the boats and seaplanes with the mountains in the distance. It simply could not be beaten.
Breakfast was continental and complimentary, and very nice too. For a very small fee you can have breakfast delivered to your room.
Aside from having great views the hotel is in a good position, within walking distance of all the places of interest, bars, cafes, bus station and seaplane terminal.
Maybe we were spoiled by the wonderful weather and the Busker Festival which was on when we visited (it was very entertaining) but we had such a wonderful time we didn't want to leave.
We are looking forward to our return!

Room Tip: Make sure you get a harbour facing room (there are some that face the street). It may cost more but...

We had a very good two night stay at this hotel. The room was spacious and clean. It was one of the nicest rooms we've ever stayed in. But we did have two problems with the service. First, the WiFi required a username and password, which was given to us at checkin—but the problem was that our devices would very often lose connection with the hotel's WiFi network—when we left the hotel or they went to sleep. So we would have to re-enter the username and password multiple times per day, per device—a real nuisance. I mentioned this to the front desk and the clerk shrugged it off, saying, "That sometimes happens." The second problem was the free breakfast. When we arrived, (well within the appointed time and there were lots of staff around) there was very little food. The oatmeal tray was empty, the white bread was gone. I had a couple of pieces of toast and then the waitress gave us a check saying that the breakfast was worth $17.00 and the gratuity was not included. On the way out we saw that the oatmeal tray was being refilled but by then it was too late. The second morning we skipped the hotel breakfast and went elsewhere.

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay at the Victoria Regent. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your accommodations.

With regard to the WiFi, it is not designed to retain the log in information for long periods of time or if there is inactivity. It is not like your house where your devices log on automatically as soon as you are within range of your router. This is for security reasons so that, once you are no longer a guest of the hotel, you cannot connect automatically.

I am sorry that the supplies on the buffet were somewhat depleted when you arrived. We try very hard to keep up with the demand and usually have 3 people staffing the 40 seat restaurant. The checks that are given to the guests to sign are a food cost control aid for us and the $17.00 value noted was for two persons.

We hope to have the opportunity to host you at the Regent in the future.

Beautiful views of the harbour, watch the planes come in, see the sea otters and enjoy the sunse. In walking distance to everything. Very comfy beds and the pillows are divine. Enjoy your own massage right in your room. You will not be disappointed!

Our room was a suite with a full kitchen , livingroom and bedroom. It was outstanding. It was clean. It faced the bay and the bridge. At night we sat on the patio and watched the sun set. It was on the wharf and was near all the resturants and the shopping. The hotel staff was great and the breakfast was okay. The view was great in the morning.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view.

Spend two nights in Victoria here for the first time - always stayed at another property and wanted to change things up. Overall, we are glad we did. Amazingly large suite with a solid panoramic view from the Johnson St. Bridge to the Victoria Clipper dock. Sadly, our room didn't get a view of the inner harbor, which I was slightly disappointed in given I opted for the highest price waterfront room option. If you are looking for a home-away-from home kind of place, though, you will not find a place like it on the waterfront.

Free parking - HUGE plus. Free breakfast is great too - although we opted for the in-room delivery for $2 per person. We ate on large outside deck each morning. Great experience. Great lunch and dinner dining within easy walking distance.

Staff was also extremely friendly and helpful.

Only two negatives to speak of - it was very hot in Victoria during our stay, and these rooms have no AC control. The later afternoon sun beats down on the rooms, so be prepared to open the windows in the evening to let the harbor cool things down. The view out the windows was a little tough to enjoy due to the amount of dirt on them, so again, use the patio for full effect.

We will be back to this place - no question!

Room Tip: Pay Whatever you can to get a waterfront view. You can lose a couple of hours watching the water tr...

We stayed here with our 4 children for 3 nights on our Canadian adventure
We had a 2 floor room which was excellent and a balcony overlooking the harbour and right round to the town.
Staff were friendly and helpful and the service was fab !
Can't rate the place highly enough and it was ideal for our family and who needs a tv with a spectacular view of the harbour to entertain the whole family
No downsides at all and we shall definitely return to this wonderful place !

The hotel has a great location, right on Inner Harbour. We rented a 2 BR suite so we could accommodate 4 people. Hotel could use some renovation, upgrades to kitchen amenities, but overall it's a nice place. Front desk staff are very nice and helpful. Free breakfast is minimal, mostly cereal, rolls, coffee, juice. No restaurant on site is a minus.... Walkability to downtown is a plus! Most everything is within 5-10 mins walk, such as Empress Hotel, Visitors Center, Whale Watching, Parliament Building. It's a bit pricey for being an older place, but we came on a holiday weekend so should expect that. Bathrooms are tiny....fixtures in bad need of upgrade. AC would have been nice, since it was a hot weekend. Leaving doors/windows open worked OK but the harbour is quite noisy with the ferry, airplanes and sea gulls. Overall I'd give the hotel a "B".

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing Parliament.
