“Excellent place to host a meeting!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

a few weeks ago, I had the priviledge of hosting an International Board of Directors meeting for NPA, The Worldwide Recruitment Network. We chose the Victoria Regent because of it's excellent location and it's ammenities. Typically, we choose large chain hotels around the world but for this meeting, we decided we wanted a more relaxed setting where we could do some "team building" with the board. We had the Regency Suite as well as several suites and guest rooms to accomodate our guests from Australia, USA, Canada, South Korea. All had an excellent time as they were able to enjoy the sights of Victoria when they weren't in the meeting.
Many our meals were prepared by ourselves (our choice!) and it proved to be not only economical but very well received. Instead of going to restaurants all the time, we were able to enjoy the Regency Suite for all it's worth. The huge balcony was a great "plus" for those who wanted some fresh air!
The staff at the Victoria Regent were some of the best I have ever experienced for this type of meeting. Typically, they do not cater to our type of group.. but they should!! Everything we requested ( tables being set up or taken away, extra chairs, flip charts, ice buckets, extra dishes etc etc. ) they came through. More importantly, they ANTICIPATED our needs. I am in the Executive Search business - not catering or hospitality... They "got it"!! Thanks to Earl Wilde, General Manager and his excellent team for making our meeting outstanding!

Room Tip: get a room facing the harbour, preferablly not on the north end of the building ( the side where the...

Thank you for your kind comments regarding our staff and the service you received durung your stay at the Victoria Regent Waterfront Hotel & Suites. From our perspective, the NPA group was a pleasure to work with and your delegates made it easy for us to do a great job. We hope to have the opportunity to host your group in the future.

We arrived at the hotel and were pleased to find it had free secure parking under ground, which after paying up to $30 a night in some places was excellent. Upon arriving in our room it was immediately obvious that the rooms on the front of the hotel are noisy but being a city what did we expect. It was worrying to find ear plugs provided in the room. The first room (211) turned out to be so noisy at night from premises opposite that we didn't sleep. Also the air con unit standing in the room didn't work at all.
The coffee maker being in the bathroom was a little strange so we moved it into the main area for our stay.
In the morning we went to reception and they were extremely good and moved us to a room at the side of the hotel which didn't have a balcony but was much better set up and more importantly quiet enough to sleep for the rest of our stay.
Beds are comfortable although pillows are very strange and uncomfortable. The rooms are clean and they have a very strange "turn down service" which turns down your bed, draws the curtains and delivers ice and water to you at about 4pm so we returned to the room about 6 each day and immediately open the curtains . Totally unnecessary.

The breakfasts are complimentary and good choice but the number of flies in the breakfast room made me stick to things that were not left open. I can not understand why the flies were not dealt with as the windows had fly screens so its worrying where they came from.

The location of the hotel is good with plenty of bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk.

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms at the front of the hotel unless you will be out clubbing until the early hours...

Thanks for your comments regarding your recent stay. We do have various levels of rooms and rates are based on size and view. I am pleased that the staff were able to switch you to a room that better suited your needs. I must apologize for the insects in the restaurant. They are not common house flies but a species that is drawn by the flowers and gardens that surround the hotel. Unfortunately, the screens that cover the sliding patio doors were in the process of being replaced at the time of your stay and they arein place now.

If you find yourself in a position to return to Victoria, please feel free to contact me directly and I will ensure your stay is a comfortable one.

This hotel is in a great location, right on the waterfront in Victoria's inner harbour. Views from our room of the habour, moored boats, many historic buildings and a beautiful west coast sunset were spectacular. It was fun to take the harbour water taxi from the taxi stop next to the hotel to the Empress Hotel for high tea. Our 2-bedroom suite was spacious, spotless and tastefully decorated. Staff were friendly, curtious and very helpful. What a wonderful experience!

Great location, parking, internet, and breakfast included. Clean huge room. Friendly staff, reasonable rate. Walking distance to everything, no need to get back in car. Even good wine in the mini-bar.

This is a great hotel, its location is perfect for all the restaurants and bars. they are literally on your doorstep. The view from the balcony is wonderful, you can sit there enjoying the coming and goings of the ferry's and seaplanes with a glass of wine. Yes there is a little noise from the seaplanes etc but it is not that noticeable and I think adds to the atmosphere of the place.
This is not a full service hotel so it does not have all the amenities. The breakfast is a little lacking, but the view while you have breakfast is great.
As this is a suites hotel the rooms have everything you need, the kitchen is stocked with all cooking implements you need. All you have to do is add food.
The room was always looked after well by the housekeeping staff.
overall a very pleasant stay and we look forward to our return visit.

Room Tip: Rooms 502, and 602 have great views Try for room in the middle of the hotel. not one on the north...

The PROS: view is incredible, and a wonderful place to enjoy the Inner Harbour. Suite was huge, could easily hold a large family. Convenient parking (underground).

The CONS: loud (street traffic) and rather pricey for the room we had. Jacuzzi tub in master bath didn't work, CD players in both bedrooms didn't work - and when I told the front desk about it upon checking out, received a "oh really? Hmmm... Well, I apologize." room was a bit outdated for the price.

Overall, still a nice place to utilize if only for the view.

I really loved the one bedroom sweet, it was such a nice room. My favorite part is the balcony you can go out on. Really clean and friendly & helpful staff :) I want to stay here every time I go to Victoria! Recommend this hotel for sure.
