“This place has a great location, friendly staff, and our suite was large.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2010

Great value for money. It's not a posh hotel, but it is clean, uptodate and modern three story hotel. We rented a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen and two pullout couchs. I think the sq ft was about 700. The size of a one bedroom apartment.

Booking was easy, the staff on the telephone were very professional and well trained, the foyer is clean and welcoming, there is a gift store and a large area devoted to information on Victoria. The elevators, if not in use were on the main floor with the doors open waiting for you.

We had dinner the first night, and it was pleasant and affordable. The rest of our meals we prepared in our suite with the exception of Dim Sum in China Town. We were in the hub with a very short walk to the Harbour. Less than a block away we found the horse drawn carriages.

The hotel thought of every need well in advance. There was two unbrellas in the closet, thank goodness we did not need them, but we were worried we might. There was a fan, a safe, housecoats and more I'm sure. The washroom was fully supplied with lots of larger soaps and shampoo etc. The kitchen was fully equipped though there were a few items I wish I had, like an extra frying pan. I'm sure the staff would have provided one if I had asked.

The halls were clean, the room was in excellent condition and very clean. The ONLY complaint would be is that the moment I was leaving I found a silverfish! Now its not that uncommon in older buildings especially in our damp environment and it was a small silverfish, they are harmless, but just the thougt is a bit gross. I told the front desk and they said they would investigate immediately. They took my comment seriously, and that is what I appreciate and would influence my return despite its discovery.

Oh I forgot to mention the pool, larger than average hottub, fitness room, I believe there were saunas, not something I use...... there was a billards room AND a games room, with games, puzzles, tv, etc. Our room had two TVs!

This hotel has been, by far, one of the bests i've stayed at. It is a bit lonely in the lobby and the location, but it has the parliament right next to it and the room was amazing. All clean, organized, and any inquiry help was right there. Seriously worth to try.

Every aspect of my stay here was enjoyable. The staff was professional and courteous, making reservations, arranging shuttle, late check out, etc. The cleaning crew was friendly and helpful as well. Despite their being several families on my floor, the room was quiet and warm. Didn't try the restaurant. Just a 2 min walk from the harbour! Would absolutely stay here again.

A nice hotel, great Suites (real english), quite and just a few steps from the city center! We loved to park our car at the carpark and we picked it up when we left Victoria. Friendly staff, qualified and know how to solve a problem. If we would stay a second time in Victoria we will come back and the breakfast is also superb!

I was very disappointed with this hotel. We stayed on the ground floor and had a view of a tree 1m from the window. When we opened the door we were greeted by a very small, cramped and freezing cold room which had the distinct smell of pot pourri and soaps which reminded me of my elderly Grans house! Not a hotel for anyone under 60 me thinks.

However the room was clean enough, in a fairly good location with nice staff, they even have a shuttle bus which is free (but will only take you 10 blocks which says a lot about its clientèle).

So if you can get a really good deal go with it.

This hotel is located about a mile from the Clipper. We got a better deal using Clipper on the room, than separately. It was quiet and rooms were ample/comfortable. The only negative was not including breakfast, which we get used to in the U.S. with this type of hotel. We ended up having breakfast at the Days End for $50 for a family or 4 but the Scots Inn would have bee $70 in their restuarant so we walked across the street and got a better view but was an average breakfast. We should have researched great breakfast places, but did not know it was not inclued and it was already 9:30 AM. If we were staying more than a night, can see the value of having a kitchen but we were just there overnight.
