“A nice family place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

The Royal Scot is a good, old-fashioned hotel, situated in the heart of Victoria. The hotel is mostly oriented to persons of the third age, which are very kind and talkative if you're staying there with a little kids, as we did. We had a number of sweet nannies :). The hotel has different attractions suitable for kids, as pool, pool table, big room with dozen of mega-puzzles, electric-piano..
We had a studio suite with a kitchen and balcony (facing to the quebec st) which wasn't tight for four of us. The only thing strange was the smoke sensor placed in the room, which started to scream after frying some steaks...my oh my...it was a mission impossible to make it stop!!
The staff was always polite and helpful. You have also a possibility to use their shuttle for free in a case of need.
The negative point goes to sleep quality. Advice to management: change the mattresses and bed bases!!!

“Great location and a great place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

The wife and I stayed here for a week during the summer. My first impression was that the staff were very friendly and helpful. Second impression was that our suite was great. Nice large bedroom, small but functional kitchen, nice sized dining room, large well appointed living room and a balcony.
The hotel itself looks like an older apartment building and I'm guessing it was in the past.
The location could hardly be better. A block from the harbour, very close to parliament and within walking distance to just about anything you might want to do. (I reccomend renting scooters to see everything without tiring out)
We would and will definitely stay here again.
I have recommended the Royal Scot to many people and a few have tried it and agreed with me.

Room Tip: Choose a suite. It might be more expensive but it will balance out in the long run if you are a mids...

“Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

The Royal Scot is an older but well-maintained building in a quiet location 1/2 block from the Parliament Buildings, 1 block from the Inner Harbour and within easy walking distance of Victoria's other main attractions.

Our room was large and well-appointed with a 32" flat screen TV, walk-in closet, 2 sitting chairs, table and desk, bath robes, microwave and fridge. There is a pool and restaurant which we did not use. The Queen size bed was comfortable.

Negatives: our room was directly above the Lobby entrance and some of the arriving guests were noisy, next time will aslk for a different location. There is a $15.00 charge for parking which is annoying but typical for the area. The toilet is very close to the wall and bathroom counter. I am 6" and 220 lbs, and found the width very cramped. A larger person could have trouble sitting there.

Room Tip: Ask for room facing Quebec Street, away from the lobby.

“perfect location, delightful atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

we stayed at the royal scot shortly before christmas. so wonderful to arrive from winterland, and find flowers in bloom in the gardens around our hotel. this hotel is small and old-fashioned...not a boutique hotel. but lovely in every way...very clean, comfortable, with many amenities. beautiful indoor pool, game room. we enjoyed the restaurant....affordable and delicious breakfasts two mornings in a row, with attentive friendly staff. we chose this hotel for all of the above qualities, which we had read about online, and we were completely satisfied they also have a free shuttle to anywhere you want to go downtown, for those who need help. if you are looking for friendly, helpful staff, affordable, comfortable, clean and quiet accommodation, within easy walking distance of downtown, this is a wonderful choice.

“Comfortable and close to the Coho”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

We stayed two nights at the Royal Scot and found it quiet and comfortable. The suite had a kitchen with table and chairs. The living room was roomy. The billiards and shuffle board were fun.
It has everything for a short or long stay and the staff was friendly. I would have breakfast down the street. All in all a good value.
