“Great Hotel for Business or Leisure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

I travel to Victoria with business and it was my first stay with Laurel Point Hotel. I was impressed with the customer service from the beginning to the end of stay. Rooms are specious and have beautiful view with the garden and harbor. All staff members were very friendly and motivated to provide the best service. I especially highlight the great customer service from Harj (Front Desk Agent)

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor with garden view are nice.

I stayed here for a conference and was very impressed with the facility, the grounds, the location and the view. The hotel is nicely situated, close to downtown. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Thanks for such a great stay! From the valet to the front desk and housekeeping staff, they were all attentive and 'on the ball'. Views were amazing from the deck (even though it was raining/snowing), especially the sunrise. Love the green initiatives and in-room Aveda products.

My second stay at this hotel. Both times I have found the staff very friendly. The food and the service was fantastic! Beautiful views from our room and the dining room. Our last stay we had a lovely Junior Suite.
The only draw back about that was there wasn't any heat in the living room area. It was very cold during the night where one of the gals was sleeping on the sofa bed. I'm sure it would be fine in the summer.

We were vacating our home near Butchart Gardens while our house was being painted. Initially planned to head north up Vancouver Island but weather forecast was wind and rain. Decided to stay at a pet friendly hotel on the Victoria harbour. Checked comments at trip advisor and visited the hotel with our pet to check out the facility. Our dog was greeted by Curtis. He showed us the garden suite that has a door opening into the Japanese garden. This will do us for 3 nights! More importantly because of the weather being nasty we brought along a meccano set, books, 3 bottles of wine, 2 dog towels, good sized bowl for water, and dog bed, premeasured dog food. Shortcomings: uncovered short walk to secure parade, no towel for the dog, too much shiny tile floors, noisy fan noise for heat. Pluses: clean rooms, lounge supplied with coffee and tea, staff, walk in shower. We are 68 and 78 yrs old with mobility limitations and dog has arthritis.

Room Tip: 166 if you have a dog. Last room in the hallway, ground level, next to a door that you can use to ta...

Dear Damelart,

Thanks very much for posting your remarks regaring your recent stay with us. I am so glad that you, your wife and you lovely 80 lb doggie felt well accomodated and comfortable during your displacement from your home.
Room # 166 is truly a great option for guests with pets as the patio door leads directly out to the Japanese gardens and pathways and it really is a good secret shortcut route!

The next time that your are short of a towel (or anything else for that matter) to wipe off muddy paws, please call our front desk at any time and they will always get towels sent to your room immediately. As for the shiny floors in our public spaces, unfortunately there is not much we can do about that as they are made of beautiful thick marble tiles and do have a lovely patina.

All in all, I hope you will have the opportunity to revisit us sometime just for fun to enjoy all that we have to offer here at the Inn and I am sure Curtis will be a at the door to welcome you all again!

Sincerely,

~Judy~

I wanted to give this hotel a five, but as with everything, there is room for improvement.

My wife, german shepherd and myself completed our mini-vacation by staying at this hotel for two nights.

Upon check-in all went well as staff were attentive and there if needed for luggage or anything else. We were reminded of the $30 pet surcharge per night, but not about the $17 fee for underground secure parking.

As far as the $30 per fee up to $90 for a week 's stay, I think they could do a little work on the price. We just paid $50 flat fee at a resort in Tofino and that included more options. A $90 fee for three nights is excessive and will prevent us from staying there for more than a day in the future.

Room service was fast, but to tip or not poses a problem as the hotel charges $4 plus a total of 15 percent on top of the meal for gratuity and delivery.

The first floor pet wing opens to the Japanese Gardens and the view of the harbour is worth the room fee, however, these hotels need more frequent inspections if they want to be a true five star location.

This wing and floor is shared with other meeting rooms, open spaces, and the pool.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay and the paths and proximity to everything.

We will return, but they need to do something about the extra fees if we are to change from bed and breakfast stays in Victoria to this hotel, and for more than just a night.

Dear Rick H,

I am so glad that you, your wife and your four legged family Shepard enjoyed your stay with us during your getaway vacation. We do love our pets here in Victoria and especially here at the Inn. We make very special arrangements for our four legged guests to ensure their stay is as comfortable as their two legged family members. After all, how many hotels have their pastry chef make homemade doggy welcome treats and cookies? We also provide comfy cozy and freshly cleaned beds and stainless steel drinking bowls and…. we have special maps indicating the very best beach front walking trails and off leash parks designed especially for our pooches to enjoy. I believe that our price points are in keeping with the majority of Victoria’s downtown hotels. I am sure you can appreciate that it isquite costly to have the room cleaned and the rugs shampooed from top to bottom after each pet stay. After all, the rooms must be spotlessly cleaned for each arriving guest.
As for the room service prices, I have actually done some price comparisons around the finer downtown hotels and our price structure is definitely in keeping with the majority of the other hotels. We are neither the cheapest nor the most expensive – we are somewhere in the middle. But I think our great food and service is well worth it!
Our parking charges are clearly stated on your reservations confirmation and I cannot think of a major hotel in Victoria that does not charge for parking. Our parking is particularly reliable as we provide secure, gated and camera monitored surveillance. Again, we are neither the cheapest but by far not the most expensive.
I do hope that this sheds a little light on our pricing structure and hope that you will consider returning for another “Staycation” to enjoy all of the small luxuries that we provide for both our two legged and four legged friends!

Sincerely,

~Judy~

We booked the Inn at Laurel Point last minute for our first trip to Victoria. The location is great, and the views from the hotel are wonderful. I arrived to the hotel at 11 AM laden with an overtired toddler, and the front desk staff was able to give us an early check-in. Our room was in the older section, and it was perfectly lovely. The front desk staff brought us a crib immediately upon request.

We never heard a peep from the neighbours, and hopefully they were unable to hear our little guy as well. We loved seeing the float planes take off from our patio. If you want to see sea life, walk to Fisherman's Wharf and look for a bunch hanging out near the Mexican floating restaurant.

The pool was closed for maintenance while we were there, which was a tad disappointing. However, they had made arrangements for guests to use a neighbouring hotel. Still, we wish the pool on-site had been open!

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the newer wing.

Dear Sankoji,

Thank you very much for staying with us and thank you for your glowing review. We really do have a magical place here on the harbour - for such a small harbour it is such a bustling little place during the day - boats come and go, ferries arrive from the US and yes, there is always a seal or two hanging around looking for yet another hand out!
My apologies for the pool closure; because we are open 24hrs a day/365 days a year - there is never a good time to do annual maintenance projects and so we try and do them when we have the very least impact on our guest's comfort. We chose January as it is usually one of our more quieter times.Thankfully, our neighbouring hotel very graciously allows our guests to frequent their pool under these circumstances. My apologies that you and your family were inconvenienced.
Dispite this, you seemed to have really enjoyed your stay and it is my hope that you will return again one day for another Victoria Adventure!

Sincerely,

~Judy~
