“Feel like a V.I.P.!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

From the moment we pulled up at the doorway, we were treated like VIP's. The doorman opened my passenger door, greeted us with a friendly smile and exuberance, and helped me out. He even offered to lift our dog out of the highlander! Amazing service. The desk was efficient and again offering smiles and welcomes. Our bags were brought to the room. And what a room! Overlooking the Japanese garden, reflecting pool and waterfall, and beyond that the Victoria harbour. The room was elegantly appointed with Japanese style screens (doors) in the shower and bathroom area. Nice, simple, tasteful decor throughout the room. Lots of lights, too. Dog dishes, bed and treats were provided. It was not very expensive at all, especially considering the size of the room and its ambiance. I wished we had had the time to spend more than one night. We had such a good night's sleep, I told my husband, let's take this bed home with us! We surely will go back whenever we are in Victoria. As a bonus there were a number of pieces of First Nations art and a superb collection of Japanese kimonos, carvings and art objects. These were all in glass cases along the halls. The restaurant breakfast was fresh, not greasy or sitting on the warming stove. All in all a most refreshing visit.

Why Thank you Lu D for you glowing review!
It really warms my heart to know that you enjoyed all that we have to offer at our little urban oasis - too bad your visit was so short!
Next time you should plan a longer visit. Keep an eye out for some of our killer sales that we have from time to time -especially in the off season!
And yes, we have the world's comfiest bed, so much so that I had to buy one for home and I love it!! We have had such a demand that we actually sell them on our website!

Thanks again for your great comments!

All the best,

~Judy~

My husband and I did something we rarely do and hopped on a plane to Vancouver with no arrangements made for accommodations at the other end. We arrived in Victoria about 7:30 pm after taking the ferry from Vancouver. After finding out the hotel we thought we might stay at was sold out for the weekend we were directed to this gem of a hotel. We were able to get a room for two nights at a reasonable rate. The hotel was very quiet despite there being a conference and a wedding going on. The front end staff were very helpful and the valet parking fellows always offered to help with directions if we needed. We enjoyed a drink in the bar and free coffee in the live-inn room. The only reason I did not give this hotel 5 stars is that we did not find the restaraunt menu to be as varied as we would have liked, however, the staff gave us a list if nearby recommended restaraunts that was very helpful. The harbor views are definately a highlight.

I love it! My favourite way to travel - "by the seat of my pants"!! Discovering a new little "gem" as you put it is part of the fun of travel. So glad that we exceeded your expectations and that you have a wonderful impromptu weekend.
You should try and come back for some Xmas shopping as Victoria and our Inn are about as charming as a story book tale and our rates at Xmas are, well,...... superb!

See you again

stayed @ the erickson wing, have a nice view of the sea. ships and float planes coming and going- the kids just love that. the room was very nice, clean, updated, washroom is huge, aircon works great . staff was attentive and courteous- room was clean well everyday. got into hotel late afternoon but room was not ready, staff gave us two free appetizers @ the restaurant. food on the restaurant is ok and a bit pricey. found out there is a charge to park on site-$15.00/day. there is a fisherman's wharf close by -walking distance- to go for a quick snack/meal. couldn't find a coffee shop close to hotel but the coffee provided in the hotel is good quality. would recommend to family. i rate it 4.5 out of 5 based on my experience.

Excellent location. Close to Victoria Clipper. Went to Victoria for half-marathon and staff was accomodating with respect to bringing in a cot. Heating was a bit off and room got a little stuffy at night. Also we felt they could have been a little more prepared for the huge number of runners that were staying in the hotel and needed breakfast prior to the race.

We spent 6 nights at the Laurel Point in September 2013 and it was not a pleasant experience. During several days of heavy rain water began leaking into our room. We reported this but the matter was never dealt with and by the time we departed 25% of the rooms carpet was wet. Unusually it was necessary to book a table for breakfast - something we have never experienced in any other hotel. On day 3 we were told that there would be a 30 minute delay for breakfast as the kitchen was backed up! We along with other guests from the hotel went to the Santiago Cafe/Restaurant [5 minutes away] and enjoyed a lovely breakfast without delay. This became the meeting point for several hotel guests over the following 3 to 4 days. When we arrived we asked the receptionist if we could delay our departure from 12 noon to 2pm. She said this would not be a problem but that we should check again the evening before our departure. This we did but the young lady on duty was far from helpful by telling us that she could not make a decision until the following morning and that there would be a charge of $50 for a 2 hour late departure. We left at 12 noon and enjoyed a 2 hour visit to the small town of Sydney near the airport. The laurel wing is the oldest of the 2 wings of the hotel. It is showing its age and is in need of urgent refurbishment. This wing is noisy - you can hear taps running, loos flushing, doors banging, and people in the corridor. Our bathroom was tiny. Following our departure I emailed our comments to the General Manager Mr Powell. Over a week later he has not bothered to reply and perhaps that says it all.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the Laurel Wing try the new wing though we had no experience of this.

I stayed at the Inn at Laurel Point for a conference and the hotel was busy but the service was still excellent. The views of the Sea Planes taking off and the Japanese Garden are terrific. The hotel is close to the city centre but still far away from the centre not to be noisy. If you come from Vancouver take the sea plane. It's quicker and cheaper, the airport in Victoria is s $50 cab ride.

Cleanliness 5.0 Service 5.0 Comfort 5.0 Condition 5.0
We first booked into the Laurel Wing at Inn at Laurel Point, which we checked out online, and it was not at all what we expected. The room was really shabby and in need of updating. It was, in my opinion, a 2-1/2 to 3 star. We spoke to other people in the hotel who had also booked the Laurel Wing, and they had the same opinion.

We upgraded to the Erickson wing and it was spectacular. Much more expensive, but we got a beautiful spacious bathroom with a walk-in glass ‘rain-shower’ and jaccuzzi soaker tub. The bathroom in the Erikson wing was as big as our first room in the Laurel wing. The room was sparkling clean, well furnished, lots of closet and dresser space, bath robes, bath sheets, and plenty of towels. Our room had a king-sized bed and a sitting area with chairs and sofa and glass end tables, a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The whole outside wall was glass, and the sliding balcony doors led out to our private terrace that overlooked the Japanese Gardens, ponds, and beyond that ...the ocean. It was dreamy! You have to ask about pets though, we forgot (in the upgrade) to ask if the rooms were “pet free”, and it turns out the rooms on the first and 2nd floor are “pet friendly.” I don't think that’s right or fair. I think some of the first floor should be "no pets" (for those of us with allergies who would like to have our patios on the first floor so that we can walk out of our rooms in the wonderful gardens)
I hope the management at Inn at Laurel Point makes a note of this.
thank you.
