“Small hotel but recently renovated”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

We visited Victoria, Vancouver Island on holiday with another couple. We found this hotel through Trip advisor and chose it due to its location and price. We booked it directly on the hotel web site as this gave us more room options and a seniors rate price. The hotel is very conveniently located in the downtown area and within easy walking distance of the harbour and downtown attractions. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the hotel has been recently renovated. This is not a large hotel but the rooms are modern and comfortable. The hotel has a great wine and tapas bar and we were offered a free cheese platter on arrival. If you choose to use their go green program and not have your room serviced, they give you a $10.00 discount on any restaurant charges. Free barista coffee and pastries are also included each morning. A very good hotel

Room Tip: We choose a single queen room and it was fine for a couple.

Beautifully renovated. Spacious room, tastefully decorated. Very comfortable firm bed. Large bath with an excellent shower, radiant heat, and a window! Excellent breakfast options, from fresh croissants and muffins to a more substantial list of choices from the menu. In the lounge, a dessert sampler to share (select 3 out of 6 desserts) a nice way to end the evening without over-indulging. On-street parking free between 6 pm and 9 am --very convenient. Eleven stars out of ten! An excellent value in a boutique hotel.

I found the Rialto to be a reasobably priced and comfortable stay. The rooms at the rear of the building being the preferred choice for quietness. The Studio 4 gym passes were great.
If I needed a central downtown locale again, I would return.

Could not believe this was the old Douglas Hotel! Unimposing exterior from which you enter an impeccably clean modern interior. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful. Parked on the street. Not sure if there is hotel parking? Very comfortable beds and nice clean air. Drapes kept out any street noise. Breakfast was very good but not included in the price of the room. Not really a bargain but a very pleasant stay. I appreciate the fact that this hotel is a renovation and small by comparison to the enormous new hotels.

Room Tip: Didn't see a fitness centre but that's OK. Walking distance to just about everywhere.

Comfy hotel in downtown Victoria. But it was advertised as including breakfast and actually you get a muffin or coffee or $3 off any other breakfast. At these room prices at least a more expansive continental breakfast should be included. While comfy, the rooms are not big for the price either.

The rooms were clean and tastefully decorated. The staff was friendly. The challenge here is to try to get a good night's sleep. The traffic noise isn't too bad but who knew sea gulls made so much noise well before sunrise. They congregate on the roof of the building 50 feet away and squawk incessently from 4am on. Next trip to Victoria we'll probably stay closer to the Harbor.

Plenty of space and features in the room, great breakfasts at reasonable price, and excellent expressos. Well located (2 minutes walk from Chinatown and the old Harbor). They won a price from the Heritage for the quality of the renovations. Not hard to figure why.
