“Unexpected Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

I had booked into another Hotel and received a call from their front desk on the way in to Victoria that the room I booked was unavailable (mechanical or overbooked) and they kindly offered us a room at the Rialto. The whole experience from the check in to check out was fantastic. The front desk were expecting us when I arrived and the breakfast served in the "lobby bar" was top notch and with our coupon a very reasonable price. The room was large and the bathroom a little funky as we had the disabled room but it was still
very functional and modern. We are coming back!

This Junior King Suite was perfect for us, a couple. The staff were very friendly, helpful and just all around great...very happy place to stay, no matter what the hour. The suite had a microwave, dishes, silverware, coffee, hairdryer and were happy to give us more of whatever we needed. There was not a jacuzzi tub but the floors were heated and so clean.

We had a breakfast that was presented so beautifully and the food was excellent. The young women that worked there were happy and friendly and quick.

We would stay there again and we would recommend the Hotel Riatlo to our friends!!!

Room Tip: of course it depends on what you are doing or looking for...for us Antique browsing and shopping...J...

I discovered the Rialto on TA and due to the great price we stayed there this past week (instead of our regular favorite - the Magnolia, which is wonderful but nearly twice the cost.) The Rialto was superb in all aspects: large room, very clean, very nice bath (with a heated floor) and the location was great for this trip. Additionally they had a nice complementary espresso/latte and pastry in the morning (hot/full breakfasts are available too, though not free.) As others have mentioned the complementary cheese platter is nice and the hotel's restaurant looked good - I would not call it "tapas" as they do but I am a bit of a Spanish foodie snob. They had a nice storage area where we could keep our bikes and the staff were wonderful too. Our room did not have a view but that said it faced "in" so we did not have the street noise our friends did from their room. A minor caveat was the heating in the rooms - a bit warm for us. The distance from USA ferries is a bit of a walk (but we were on bikes so all was fine.) I believe parking is nearby but not at the hotel.

Room Tip: 4th (top) floor rooms facing away from the street are the best

We've tried a number of hotels in Victoria for both business and pleasure, and this is our favourite. It's centrally located, very reasonably priced and the rooms are immaculate. Staff are friendly and professional.

The free breakfast every morning is light, but very good (especially the Discovery Coffee!) and a multi night stay gets you an excellent cheese plate at the bar.

This place is excellent if you arrive by public transit or float plane. Parking costs extra I think...

Room Tip: Ask about their corporate rate if you work for a local company.

I liked this hotel. We got the bus from the ferry, got dropped off downtown and found the hotel right in front of us. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. I opted for the room with the double bath. I loved the cool bar, the complimentary cheese in the bar and the nice coffee in the cafe.
The only fault I can find with the place was that they did not supply bubbles for the bath which was unfortunate. Also the website said 'breakfast included' but in reality it was a coffee and a pastry and/or you get a three dollar discount if you opt for the hot breakfast. My partner went for the hot breakfast and it was great. Our windows were looking onto other windows which felt a bit 'boxed in' so a tip would be to ask for a nice view or even a view of the town/courtyard.. The staff were extremely helpful, in particular Michael at reception. I would most definately stay here again and it was priced reasonably and we left feeling that we got great value for our money.

Room Tip: ask for a nice view

A recently renovated old hotel in the middle of everything. Very tastefully done. Spacious bathrooms with all the usual toiletries etc. Vouchers given for coffee/breakfast pastries, and if you are lucky a voucher for a sumptuous cheese platter in their elegant tapas bar/restaurant. Will certainly dine there on my next visit.

Room Tip: room overlooked a courtyard, very quiet

This refurbished small hotel is a tasteful, contemporary, and get this, inexpensive, treat in a city over-served by quaint, stodgy and over-priced hotels. Beautifully decorated rooms, fabulous location, a fantastic restaurant on the main floor (Venetto's), a respectable wine store, complementary breakfast treats and a genuine staff of friendly, helpful and go-out-of-their-way people to make your stay a delightful and warm experience. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Choose rooms on the Pandora St. side or the side opposite Douglas St., that side is a bit noisy. I...
