“A few downsides”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

Make no mistake, this is a pretty good hotel. We had a harbour view room and it was interesting to watch the ferries and floatplanes coming and going - especially since it was the first time that we had been to Victoria. You do need to know that this property is RIGHT ON the harbour, and the floatplanes are indeed loud and begin at about 7 a.m. (although they quit by about 8 p.m.) Although very do-able, it's also a bit of a hike to downtown, so not a lot of food options or shops nearby (except Fisherman's Wharf, which we found to be overrated). Pretty good overall but I might look elsewhere next time.

Room Tip: Harbourside has a good and entertaining view, but it is loud, and the floatplanes fly between about...

We arrived after a bike ride in from the Swartz Bay ferry. The front desk staff quickly arranged for us to be escorted to the underground parking bike lock-up. Then we were off to our room to prepare for a dip in the pool. Wrapped in fuzzy robes (provided by hotel) we headed down for a dip in the pool and a soak in the hot tub. The pool was stocked with towels, so we didn't need to lug any back and forth from the room.

The hotel is about a 10 - 15 min walk from the heart of downtown action. Close enough not to need a car (for an active couple), but far enough away from the noise of the traffic.

We ate in the hotel, which worked out well. I have celiac disease and there were many option to choose from. The menu was mostly seafood, but there were some other options. The meal was fantastic! We stayed with the seafood theme, and nothing disappointed. Oysters, prawns and fish dinners all served warm and delicious.

We had to be up fairly early to head back to the ferry, and the staff at the front desk quickly had us on our way.

This hotel offers great value for the price. Clean, spacious rooms and excellent service from the staff. It is also conveniently located within walking distance of downtown. Each room provides a great view whether it is an ocean view or the city below. The balconies provide a nice place to watch the setting sun.

Room Tip: I did not use the spa or restaurant this trip but I have used the restaurant in the past. I highly r...

Stayed here for a weekend getaway. Matthew at reception was very welcoming. Our 9th floor room was booked as a "city view", but we were pleasantly surprised to see we had a partial ocean view where we watched the cruise ships come in from the deck. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and really quiet. Breakfast at the Blue Crab restaurant was a bit pricey and just ok, but every table has a nice view of the harbour. We parked our car for the weekend because everything is within walking distance. For the families, take a two minute walk to Fisherman's wharf where you can buy raw fish and feed the seals that swim around there. The kids (and adults) will love it. My one complaint is the free shuttle advertised was not going the two times we requested it. There didn't seem to be a schedule when it was running or not...but like I said, everything is within walking distance...it would have been nice when dressed up in high heels to get a ride. We recommend this hotel, and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Good location just within walking distance of downtown, 15 minute walk. You can park your car in the basement. Friendly reception. Nice room, mine was spacious. Breakfast is okay and you can choose from a la carte. Nice property for one or two nights. Not a wow factor, but good and clean for a reasonable price.

Room Tip: Room with a view at the harbour

Dear MrCanada,

We loved your comments about us but couldn't understand the headline being not that good. Your review was excellent from our point of view. You loved the location, parking, spacious room and good breakfast. We were reasonably priced, good and clean. We will work on the "Wow" factor to be just a bit better next time. Thanks again.

Sincerely,

Pradeep Puri

We really enjoyed our recent overnight stay at the Coast Victoria Harbourside Hotel. It was very nice, clean, comfortable, and we really liked the location being close to the ferries, but a little away from heavy traffic areas, but near a residential area while being on the Inner Harbour.

Room Tip: We were on the 5th Floor and had a nice view from our balcony of the residential homes & Washing...
