“Many of the comforts of home, and great staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2010

We stayed for 4 nights with our 7-year-old son and found our suite to be more than adequate. The kitchenette was perfect for eating breakfasts in, and the pool was a nice way to wind down after a day of sightseeing. A few updates or modernizations wouldn't hurt, but overall everything was fine.

Stayed on the 3rd floor. Don't recommend staying on 2nd floor b/c it's the same floor as the pool, maintenance rooms, etc. and the hallway and our original room reeked of chlorine and gave me a headache. But the desk staff was very accommodating and immediately changed our room to the third floor. Much better! No view, but very clean room and a big flat screen tv, and a/c and wireless internet.
Parking is included in the price and is underground. Tight spots though, glad I only had a car. But they let you park your car even after the check-out time, if you need a few more hours...
Location is perfect for walking to the museum, parliament buildings, shopping downtown. Just a few blocks up from popular Government St.

I stayed here for two nights in a one bedroom suite with two beds. The rooms were enormous! with a little kitchenette area - small fridge, microwave, kettle and coffee maker. The queen beds were very, very comfortable - one was in the bedroom and the other in the very large sitting room. The bathroom was clean and well supplied. It could use an update, though not too bad. The location was surprisingly quiet given its' downtown venue.

The location is great - walk out the door and everything is right there.

Complimentary parking was included in our package which is really nice in a downtown hotel. The staff were fabulous! Friendly, helpful and extremely professional without being stuffy. They made us feel truly welcome.

Rooms could do with updating, particularly the air con, which is necessary but noisy. Service was good. Rooms are spacious. View from our room was awful but no doubt some rooms have good views. No breakfast. Good deep indoor pool and hot tub, again a little dated but kids enjoyed it.

This hotel is in a good location, and has friendly service. The king size bed is very comfortable. However, we had one important concern: there are no cribs for babies to sleep in. The "cribs" they have are playpens, which is absolutely unsafe for babies to sleep in at night (and the warning is stated right on the playpens themselves). When the comment was fed back to management, they queried why playpens were unsafe for babies and stated that many other hotels in Victoria only have playpens as well. This does not make it ok; it only means that all those hotels should really look into the safety issue at the same time. Our other stays in different hotels all offered proper cribs, and I was surprised to hear their response. We will definitely not returned to this hotel unless this issue is properly addressed. The last thing you want is something bad to happen before they make the change.

We do strive to provide excellence in service and comfort for our guests and all comments are welcomed and greatly appreciated. We have now added cribs to our inventory. The cribs comply with current Canadian Safety Standards and will provide an additional option for those travelling with infants and toddlers.

My mom and I stayed here as part of a package with Clipper Vacations, and if I had it to do over again I would probably check out a place with a view and better air conditioning. We were on the 11th floor and the only air conditioning was a portable one in one of the bedrooms - it was hard to regulate temperature throughout the rest of the room and bathroom and made for uncomfortable nights.

The pros: the staff is awesome, super friendly, super helpful, ready to offer suggestions of places the locals eat and give maps to find your way; they have fresh apples at the desk; the room had a frig and microwave and lots of windows and light.

The cons: the restaurant on the ground floor does not serve breakfast and the one on the 18th floor is overrated and overpriced. it's not as close to the attractions and shopping as other hotels and a heck of a walk carrying luggage when walking back to the harbor.

We stayed here for 2 nights in May 2010. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The location is great, close to everything. We would definitely return to this hotel again.
