“Our days at The Admiral Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

In planning our trip to Victoria, BC, we were looking for a place that offered convenience and a reasonable price. We got both, plus a view of the water and free parking. We found The Admiral Inn to be welcoming and our room was quite spacious. If we return to this lovely area, we will definitely consider staying here.

Can't speak highly enough of the friendliness of the staff. They were great. We were in room 311 on the corner of the hotel overlooking the harbour. It was very spacious and clean. The kitchen was well equipped. The bathroom was a little on the small side but plenty of toiletries and towels. There is a laundry room. I put washing in and reception rang to say it was done and would I like him to put it in the tumble dryer for my. Breakfast was perfectly adequate. We liked it so much that we stayed for a further night. Would definitely stay again.

Pleasantly surprised to step off Victoria Clipper ferry from Seattle and see hotel just 100m away on my right. Upgraded free to superior room. Staff very friendly. Everything rather dated but functional. Rooms are with kitchen/dining/ sitting area.Separate bedroom.Bathroom with bath.Furnishings dated. Only negative was bad odour in room which with windows opened still remained. Breakfast included is basic but okay.

Thank you for taking the time to share a review with others. We are pleased that everything met your expectations. However, a room with an oder is of concern. This is something we definitely want to rectify. Should this ever happen again at our hotel, or I'm sure any other hotel for that matter, bring it to the attention of the front desk. I know we'd change the room if there was an alternate available or put in natural substances to absorb any oders and get to the bottom of the problem when the room was vacant. Sound like you had a 1 bedroom apartment with full kitchen. We also have studio rooms with or without a full kitchen for those who do not actually need as much space. Hope to see you again.

Really well-positioned for us as it is on the Inner Harbour and very near the departure point for the Victoria Clipper to Seattle, our next stop. We enjoyed our stay here even though it felt like a slightly tired and quaint old motel with vintage fittings. At times the breakfast room felt like an old folks home. Free wifi good also bikes available. Room spacious with kitchen and two beds and a useful bathroom lobby area. As we were on the ground floor it felt a bit vulnerable as there were so many windows and doors, but seemed to be quite safe. Staff very helpful and friendly, made it seem more personal. Breakfast included, a pity no cereal.

Towels a bit small and thin and bathroom taps fiddly to use eg push and pull on the hand basin. Shower curtain tended to wrap itself round you when having a shower, a pet hate, but the shower itself was good.

Lots of options to walk along the harbour pathways eg to Fisherman's Wharf and Ogden Point or through town to the Songhees and West Bay and get a taxi boat back to Fisherman's Wharf for $5 each.

A tip - if you are not driving and need to get from the airport try the express public transit bus, changing at McTavish. It's a bargain at $2.50 if the timing suits you, and it brings you all the way to Belleville St.

Thank you for your review. If a younger crowd is reading your review, maybe this will add a mix to the demographics in our breakfast living room :) We are delighted to welcome all ages. Babies are especially fun.
We are pleased you liked so many things we offer; our location so close to the clipper plus all the major attractions and walking paths. Your commuting suggestions are excellent. The harbor ferry taxi is great fun, and wonderful when you just want to get back home to relax. Taking the local bus is a great idea, especially if you do not get the express and it winds through the picturesque back country roads. It is a sight seeing opportunity for sure. Sometimes you can even enjoy a Double Decker bus. It would be nice to see you again soon.

We didn't have a reservation when we arrived in the morning, but the service was excellent - they happily found us a room and even let us check in - even though it was only 11AM! Parking was included and was right behind the hotel, just steps from the room. The location was excellent - downtown was a short walk.

Though the property was older, it was incredibly clean. Breakfast was nice as well. We would definitely stay again.

My wife found this gem. A little (okay maybe very) dated, but it has a great location and staff that want to make sure you've enjoyed yourself. We always feel safe and the continental breakfast is basic, but very good. A couple steps out the door and I'm running on the seawall.

Stayed one night at the Admiral Inn , Victoria, BC... really nice old hotel.... Very Clean...Staff all very friendly... Had the corner room on the 3rd floor ... nice view... sat out on the balcony.. went for a bike ride with their complimentary mountain bikes...definetly would go back.. .. The only thing that should be changed is there should be a new mattress on the sofa bed in room 311... not very comfortable...Overall ... a perfect location and great staff.. !!

Weekend Getaways are great. Glad you stayed with us for yours. The bikes are fun and very popular with our guests. Sofa beds can be tricky. When you come back you might want to ask for a room with 2 beds or our deluxe new roll away beds are wonderful. I've tried one and found it very comfortable indeed. Let us know. Happy to help. Thank you for your great review. See you soon.
