“Great Location and nice rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

Our room was ready a little early so we checked in at 14.30. The staff were helpful and gave us tourist info. The hotel seemed quiet and there were only a few cars in car park (which is not big enough for a car per room). We booked a “best view” rate and our room had a fantastic view over the harbour. The room was spacious and had a nice seating area with a couch and chair. It also had a shared terrace area outside with a table and chairs. There was full kitchen facilities and a little dining area. The location of the hotel is perfect for walking into town and round to fisherman's wharf. We bought some food at the Safeway at Sydney just 6km south of the ferry terminal and just as well as there seems to be a shortage of food shops in downtown area. The towels are small and thin and need an upgrade. Most/all rooms face the road and there is quite a bit of noise. We ran the air con to drown it out. Some rooms seem to have their door under the stairs which didn’t look too good but our room on the top floor didn’t have that problem. Also the fridge makes a fair bit of noise as it cuts in – a problem with having a kitchen. Breakfast is a buffet in the reception area from 07.30. The area is small but was ok when we were there but if the hotel was busy I am not sure where everyone would sit? There was no cereal on offer and the fruit consisted of pieces of orange and some apples. The main sustenance was cinnamon bread and muffins. The coffee was good and orange/apple juice available but if you like a healthy breakfast then this is not it. So great location, try to get a top floor room and make the best of the breakfast.

Room Tip: Top floor for a view

Thank you for your review. Glad you enjoyed the accommodation and view. Kitchens are great but Fridges can be a problem. Hint I found somewhere; “unplugged fridges hold temperature for up to16 hours”. Helped me for 8 hours of sleep!
Generally, our end of town is quiet after 8pm . Unfortunately, not when you were here.
We are very sorry there is no room for cereal. Our service and kitchen are too small. We try to compensate with hard boiled eggs and yogurt instead. Breakfast on the patio helps alleviates congestion during the busy summer months. What a great start to your stay. Hope to see you again.

We stayed at the Admiral Inn while I attended a conference on a tight budget. I had a 10 minute walk to the conference centre from the Inn. Perfect to clear my mind before and after the sessions. we had an efficiency unit and it certainly met our needs. Spacious with separate bedroom. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast covers all food groups. Free Parking and internet included. Close to grocery store.
Inn is older; well maintained and clean. We arrived early and were made welcome immediately.
We are considering returning for at least a month for a late winter/ spring visit when we finally retire.
This place is perfect for visiting Victoria on a budget.

What a lovely review. You hit upon all the points that make us stand out from the other hotels. We are lucky to be graced by such a great location and outstanding views. However it is diligence, not luck that maintains a clean, comfortable and functional hotel. Thank you for sharing your appreciation. It means a lot to us.
When you book for your winter/Spring stay, let us know if you want the same room. We have one bedroom apartments or Studio type rooms to choose from. Both have full kitchens and are ideal for our long term guests. We look forward to your return.

The Admiral Inn is a small, low-key, comfortable hotel, with the ambience of a bed & breakfast, close to the ferry terminals and downtown. Spacious room included beds, sitting area, deck and kitchenette (handy for leftovers from nearby restaurants). Expanded continental breakfast daily in the charming living room off the lobby. Staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

I recently returned from Victoria, spending four nights with a women's tour group that I organized. The Admiral Inn was very well located on the harbor walking path, across the street from the ferries, and walking distance to everything. Debra and her staff did a wonderful job of making us welcome, comfortable, and they were always happy to give us tips on restaurants and places to visit. The Inn has a nice breakfast each morning and also has a coffee maker and other kitchen appliances in the room. The rooms were a good size and the beds were comfortable. They are in the process of doing a bit of updating, so it will be even better soon. I will be sure to bring other groups here in the future!

Room Tip: Rooms on the 3rd floor have a harbor view, which is nice at night.

Stayed only one night in Victoria and this place was fine. It's a little run down but it's absolutely fine. The rooms are huge, we had a fully equipped kitchen, dining table, and two armchairs in a living room space, all for $120!!! The best thing about it is it's location. It's only 3 blocks from the Legislature building in a very quiet neighbourhoodbut. Slept like a log. And continental breakfast is included as well as free parking and free wifi.

We will certainly return to this lovely little hotel. Within walking distance of eveything you would want to see in the harbour area. The staff were all wonderful and very accomodating, We were able to start our day with a continental breakfast and not have to walk to find our first meal of the day. Our room was large with a fully stocked kitchen so we were able to cook if we chose to. Its an older hotel but everything worked, except the TV remote, but it is well maintained and very clean. The beds were very comfortable.....which in my book is very important. At only 3 storeys with 30 rooms....you are not just a face in a crowd when you stay here.

Room Tip: Every room has a front balcony & the rear has outdoor tables & chairs, on each floor, for ev...

I was surprised when I got there to find that the room was an efficiency. What a pleasant surprise for the price!. Continental breakfast was excellent with the option of bringing it back to your room to toast, eat later. Unit kitchen well stocked. Even made a dinner one night with my son and his girlfriend. Then we "retired" to the balcony and watched the harbour life.

Room Tip: all rooms face the inner bay. get one closer to the end

So glad you enjoyed your stay with us. I'm sure your son and friend enjoyed a home cooked meal.
Being able to watch the downtown activities while away from the actual noise is a bonus we are happy to enjoy. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with other TripAdvisor viewers. We hope to see you again soon.
