We spent a couple of nights at the Executive House Hotel. It was our first stop on a 2 week tour...so to pull back the curtains open the sliding doors and step out onto the verandah and be dazzled by a stunning view of Victoria was fabulous. The rooms are clean well equipped and I can't think of anything that detracts from them. We were tired on our first evening so went downstairs to the bar where we had a lovely meal and a jam session seemed to be taking place. Sat at the bar where the locals who drank there were really friendly and we had a lovely evening. All in all it was a great start to our holiday. If you are coming in by bus the bus station is at the bottom of the road..walking distance to the hotel. I would recommend the ghost walk, very interesting and not to long a walk for those who are not into walking!.

Had a great three night stay there. Driving across Canada from Toronto with my dog (long story). Some hotels we've been to have been pet friendly, but they've put us in the worst rooms. The Executive House was great. Everyone was always friendly at the hotel -- except for the check-in Australian guy (sorry, dude). Got a big suite for the price of a normal room -- guess it was off-season.
Great location downtown -- lots of bars and restaurants. Very safe.
Had to spend some time at the BC archives which was right down the street. Great walks in that area too.
This is the place to stay in Victoria.
A+ (despite pompous Australian guy at Check-In)

We stayed here for three nights and it was great. The rooms were not pricey we paid about 68 dollars per night. Which is a great deal for victoria. The location is excellent, the hotel is located right downtown, just a block from the Empress and maybe two from parliament. Whenever I go back to Victoria I will stay at Executive house. The staff were really helpful, my girlfriend has celiac and they helped us find places to eat. The rooms were great but we didn't have a dvd player just cable. The pillows were kind of uncomfortable but by the second night I got used to them fine. The windows were really big and gave lots of light. We had a kitchen and it had a toaster, oven, fridge, kettle, utensils, and plates. I really recommend this hotel, especially if you're on a budget. I brought my car along and parking was about four dollars a day.

This was our fourth stay at the Executive and it was just as pleasant as in the past. The front desk staff was helpful in booking us shuttles, dinner reservations, passing on advice etc. Our friends were impressed with it as well. Very clean, but most importantly, the hotel is within walking distance to just about everything - the harbor, Parliament, Royal Museum, downtown, shopping, etc.

We used to live in Victoria and had family stay in a larger suite in this hotel a couple of years ago. The suites are sizeable and not bad for the affordable rate. We decided to give a standard room a try for our Christmas holiday. We booked a "king/queen room" and upon check in were given a room the size of my cubicle. The bedspread and furniture looked as though they hadn't been updated since 1980. The room was overall dingy and, frankly, depressing. The bed was a queen I guess? It felt like a double. I laid down for a nap while my husband ran an errand. When he checked in, he was appalled and called the front desk to request a king-size bed room. The room they switched us to was much more spacious (at the same rate - so make sure to request a king bed) but still was quite outdated.

Both rooms had fantastic views. Since we used to live near downtown we weren't there for the view, but someone from out of town might appreciate that. The larger room had a tiny balcony whereas the queen room just had a window.

If you get a great rate this is still a good value if you don't need to spend too much time in the room. And the parking is only $4.00!

Stayed here for 3 nights in a suite on the 3rd floor. Hotel is dated, but is in a great location near the Empress and is a good value. Rooms are clean. Hotel offers wireless internet in the room.

There are 3 restaurants here. Ate at Bartholamew's twice - atmosphere was a little rough. Food was ok.

Front desk staff are very friendly and accomodating. There is a fitness center available but the equipment is old and limited. There is a YMCA just up the Street.

Overall I would return although I have heard that they do not have airconditioning so that may be a factor in the summer.
