“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

We were able to walk from the ferry dock, with suitcases, to the hotel with no problem. The room was comfortable. The sofa bed was no better than average, but I have rarely slept in a comfortable sofa bed. We were easily within walking distance of the sites, and the buses we needed to more distant locations were not far.

Quiet for down town. Close to everything. Cleaning staff great. Missed the pool. Clean, comfortable, but you don't feel spoiled. Food average. Staff friendly. Beds could stand an up grade. Slept on the couch one night. Rooms a bit hot. Great to be able to open slider to balcony for fresh air. Kitchenette could be better equipped.

Room Tip: No pool. Close to everything down town.

Close to the downtown sights and accessible by foot, bus and taxi, this hotel is an ideal place to stay. Clean rooms and pleasant staff made our two-day stay very pleasant. Nice restaurant and bar in the building. WiFi was provided. We would stay here again.

This is a great hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room also had a separate little closet/getting ready space which was fantastic. The location was perfect and we were within walking distance to all the local attractions. We would definitely stay again & recommend it to other travellers.

This is a fantastic hotel! The hotel staff was very professional, freindly and accomodating. We had a beautifull room on a high floor with a balcony overlooking the harbor. The room was spacious and very clean. The hotel's pub, Bartholomews is located in the basement level. It has a wonderfull ambiance and feels like you are in Ireland. Our Irish bartender, Adam was a joy to be with for our nightly nitecap.

Room Tip: 8th floor overlooking the harbor.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

We wanted to stay at the Marriott but they were fully booked. Executive House was our second choice. The excellent location was why we picked it. We checked in for 2 nights. The room was a good size with 2 Queen Beds....which were very comfortable. Unfortunately the room was very warm and the mobile air conditioning unit was so noisy it was impossible to sleep! As we had to have the window open due to the heat we also then had to contend with the traffic noise etc. Due to lack of sleep by the end of our stay we were relieved to check out.

Room Tip: I would not stay there again

TarenExecutiveHouse, Manager at Executive House Hotel, responded to this review, June 24, 2013
Thank you for submitting your concern regarding the heat in your room, we understand that our Guest Rooms can become quite warm during the summer months. I wanted to share with you that these concerns have been noted and beginning this September we will be starting extensive room renovations that will see the addition of in-suite air conditioning as well as a pool and expanded exercise facilities. Our room renovations will be completed by May 2014 so be sure to visit us again next summer.

Kind regards,
Taren Phillips

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

We had a suite of rooms, bedroom, lounge, kitchen, bathroom which was more like a timeshare than a hotel. There was a thermostat but that was only for heating and there was no air conditioning, leaving the windows open allowed the traffic noise in. The bed was comfortable and the view was good looking down to Wharf Street and the harbour. The rooms were dated but clean. The first day for breakfast the lifts could not cope with the movement so we tried to find the stairs. We were shocked to find that the stairs were in fact two internal concrete fire escapes. One which led to a door marked for emergency access only and the other leading us to a mezzanine floor which was not the lobby. On finally approaching the dining room we were warned off by several people who said they had waited for ages to be acknowledged. So one day we purchased food from 7/11 and the other days we ate at Cora's which is also in Douglas Street. Having said all of the Victoria is a beautiful place and not to be missed.
