“Great location; friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2011

Location was good but quite a lot of traffic noise when sleeping - we bought ear plugs! Staff very welcoming and friendly - always smiling and saying hello and asking if they could help with anything. Parking was easy and only $4 plux taxes. We bought breakfast one morning but regretted not going out to granville island for very fresh breakfasts. Room was adequate with great views from the 11th floor - a typical hotel room.

Victoria is my travel destination at least 3 times a year. I have stayed in at least 5 different hotels close to the harbour in the past 5 years. The Executive is now my first choice, in fact my only choice. The staff go out of their way to make sure everything is 100%. The rooms are clean and well supplied. Mattresses and bedding are excellent. Higher floors offer splendid views. Elevator service is super. Bart's bar is friendly, has great selection of food and ales and will not break your budget. Downtown and the harbour are just down the street.

Room Tip: Parking can be a challenge so park it and walk.

I am very pleased to be able to write a review for the Executive House. The hotel has an excellent location with clean comfortable rooms and a very warm welcoming staff. The hotel met and exceeded my expectations and needs and I would definitely plan to stay at this hotel again if I were to travel to Victoria for businesss or pleasure. Easy access to all of downtonw, but a quiet and pleasant ambience made for a great stay in Victoria, despite the rain.

Room Tip: The higher floors ahd good views.

We chose this hotel on the recommendation of a friend. The winter rate was excellent as is the location, right behind The Empress and within walking distance of the downtown area, beautiful Beacon Hill Park, the harbor, theatres, and all kinds of restaurants. Our room, number 1503, had a great view including a harbor glimpse. Wall to wall, full-length windows were much appreciated. Parking was a reasonable price and immediately adjacent to the hotel. the king-size bed was comfortable, with good bedding. The only downside, which was more than offset by the reasonable cost, is that the decor in the rooms is really (with the exception of the bedding and the carpeting) with old-fashioned vinyl wallpaper in both the bedroom and the bathroom, and verging-on-shabby furniture. Maybe more important to most people are the large flat-screen television sets. Although others have complained about noise, this was not our experience.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon. The room we received was not clean. The bathtub and sink had soap on it from the last guest. There was also toothpaste on the faucet. The tub had not been scrubbed properly. The towel hangers were falling off the walls. The wall paper was peeling both in the room and the bathroom. The ice bucket had mold in it. The bed was a bit springy and there were not enough pillows for comfort. We heard people from the downstairs bar all night long. People were yelling in the street all night long in the apartments beside us and outside the bar. Not to mention people constantly talking in the parking lot below. Parking was awful and so was the security in the hotel. The fitness center had a few machines out on a deck. Great idea but not much to work with. We will not be staying here again.

We stayed for 2 nights after arriving by coach from Vancouver. It was in an excellent location to sightsee around the central area and room was very comfortable. Bed had an excellent mattress and shower head was good. So often shower heads that sting can be a real annoying feature, but this hotel had a great shower. Our son slept on a fold out bed, which he told me was not as comfortable as he had hoped.
Great views. Rooms are not quite as sound proofed as other hotels we have stayed in, as was apparent when guests next door arrived home late at night.

good position for Inner harbour, Parliament buildings & coach terminal for ferry to vancouver. It was clean & comfortable. Well supplied with iron & board, hairdryer etc .
Good sized wardrobe & very quiet despite being on a main road. The pub underneath hotel served good food & beer at a reasonable price and had a good atmosphere. Would certainly stay there again.
