Victoria was the fifth of six Honeymoon destinations in Canada. We drove there from Whistler and what a long drive it was! Due to road works, bad map reading and a late ferry (the crossing took 1 1/2 hrs). what should have been a 4 1/2 hr journey took 9hrs! Victoria was big, busy, noisy and very different from anywhere i've ever stayed before it made me realise that i'm more of a country girl at heart, but if you like hustle and bustle i'm sure you'll like Victoria.
Our hotel was a little worn around the edges but our room was clean, spacious with a lovely big comfortable bed, the view was ok too although i prefared seeing Mountains. The guy behind the front desk who signed us in was a little unfriendly and our car was valet parked at an undisclosed location. I would stay here again as our room was comfortable, the hotel was conveniently located for the town and harbour and we were not bothered by noise.
There were lots of shops including a mall with a food hall offering lots of different types of food. The walk along the harbour is nice, the evening we went there was lots of entertainment such as musicians, artists etc. We went whale watching with 'Seafun Safaris' which cost $250. The guide really knew his stuff but we didn't see a single whale in 41/2 hrs which was more than a let down, infact we didn't see much of anything due to the "unusual" thick fog. Occassionally there was a slight break in the fog which allowed us to see some Sealions and an Eagle. The guide seemed dissapointed that we had not seen any Whales and told us that we could come again for free (pity it was our last day). Oh and when they say wrap up it's for a reason, it may be sunny on land but it gets REALLY cold on the water. Don't worry too much if you go without something warm as you will get offered coats, hats and gloves during the trip. If you have the time take a drive up the west coast, there's a rainforrest you can walk through to get to the beach, it's quite a steep uneven path but the view is worth it. There's also a nice little place called Honeymoon Bay which should be straight forward to get to only we got majorly lost and ended up driving along a loging road through the mountains thankfully it was a weekend so there were no trucks. We made it eventually (sheer luck) had a relaxing afternoon enjoying the scenery and took the safer route back to the hotel. If you like live music visit the 'Swans Brew Pub' which is approximately a 10 minute walk away from the hotel, it has good food and a good atmosphere.

I'd like to thank the writer of the review for staying with us during their trip to Victoria. Sounds like the trip getting here was a bit harrowing!!
With respect to not knowing where their car was parked, we are alocated downtown Victoria and our hotel does not have a parking lot. We lease space from the City of Victoria's parking lot just up on the next block from the hotel. It is about a 3 minute walk from the hotel but because of the diffiiculty with the location of the lot and gaining access to the area that is gated, we provide staff to valet park all of our guest's vehicles. Our staff require a remote control device as well as a specially programmed key card as supplied by the city to gain access to the part of the parkade where we park our guest's vehicles. If ever a guest wishes to see where their vehicle is parked, we can certainly show any guest wanting to see the space. Perhaps this was not made clear this time around. We will certainly be sure to advise all future guest that the option to see where their vehicle is parked is made very clear.
