Enjoyed a good breakfast at Spoons on Victoria Day. Food was good, the place had fun decor and the staff was great. I would recommend it

“Nice atmosphere, average food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

After hearing several good recommendations about The Spoon diner a friend and I decided to stop by for breakfast.. Everything about the diner was excellent. The atmosphere was pleasantly different, the staff friendly and attentive and the prices reasonable. I had the Hungry Spoon breakfast because I couldn't decide whether I wanted sausages, ham or bacon so I got all three in their big breakfast. Three eggs easy over, multigrain toast and home fried potatoes rounded out the meal with a cup of coffee. The coffee was excellent but I have to say that the breakfast was just average. The toast was ok, home fries tasty but a little greasy because I expect they were finished in a deep fryer. The eggs were a little more than over easy and the meat had a reheated quality that wasn't up to what I expected. Not bad, just not excellent. My friend had their French toast breakfast and loved it. There is lots of parking close by. They are open for breakfast and lunch only. No dinner service. The Spoon has become a little trendy in Victoria so arrive early on the weekends or expect a line up. As there are so many Cafe's in Victoria that serve really excellent food I don't know that I would rush back but then again I wouldn't complain if friends wanted to go. Maybe for lunch next time.

“Best breakfast (and service) in the city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

We go to Spoons every weekend for two reasons.

1. The food is great. Huge portions that are always scrumptious, though admittedly, we always order the Parliament Hash.

2. The service rocks. Everyone is greeted with a smile and a huge dose of positive energy by the friendly staff.

This is a true gem. There are a growing number of breakfast joints popping up in Victoria, but we always come back to Spoons, which, we found out the other day, does an awesome lunch and dinner too (poutine = awesome).
