“Best place to stay in Victoria, BC!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2010

This was the second time we've stayed at Spinnakers. The beer is delicious, the food lacks nothing, and the rooms are cozy and romantic. We highly recommend it!!

I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to comment about your recent stay with us at Spinnakers. Our team works hard to maintain the quality in our food & beer that have customers returning time and time again. Please come back and visit again the next time you are in Victoria.

We spent our honeymoon at Spinnakers Guesthouse. We were not happy with room 1 and asked to be moved. They upgraded us to room #6 without additional cost. The service was excellent. We both agreed that they bent over backwards to help us and be comfortable at this location.

It is only 1.2 miles from downtown on foot. Great walk along a waterfront board walk. I would recommend the place and we agreed it had the best dinners with many entrees under $20.

We had to pay extra for a "spa tub" which we didn't want and found it difficult to get in and out of and the shower inside was inefficient. The breakfast that you used to provide, now consisted of baked goods only (they were very good however). We had planned to have dinner in your restaurant after driving all day, and found that there was no room as there was a private party going on. It would have been nice to have been informed of this when we checked in! The rooms could use an update for the price.

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay. I want to take the opportunity to clarify a few of your concerns. We don’t charge extra for rooms with a spa tub, it is included in our standard room rate. Our showers use low flow control devices to allow us to be as environmentally friendly as possible. It is very important to us that we are environmentally conscious in every aspect of our business. I am pleased you enjoyed our selection of morning bakery goodies. Our team works very hard on providing a quality product for our guests and regular customers. Finally, I apologize our restaurant was booked for a private function making our Taproom busier than usual. Unfortunately our front desk staff does not have access to the restaurants reservation book to be able to alert incoming guests. However, from now on I will ensure that dates for future private functions be communicated to front desk staff to prevent this happening again. Finally, the owners are in the process of renovating the rooms in stages. I am sure you can appreciate the cost of renovating 10 rooms all at once. For now we are replacing the televisions with flat screen, wall mounted models and new linens. I hope you choose to stay with us again during future travel plans. Feedback such as yours keeps us on our toes and correct any issues of concern.

Spinnakers upgraded us from a guesthouse room to the cottage (perhaps because I made my reservation 9 months in advance). We loved the cottage and could have stayed there longer than the five nights we had. The cottage was a small bungalow (1930s?) with a living room, bedroom, and remodeled bathroom and kitchen. The deck overlooked a beautiful yard with roses, fruit trees, vegetable garden, and bee hive. One afternoon, when we were relaxing on the deck, the chef came by to pick herbs. She said she was learning to be a bee keeper and the hive was just getting established. (The bees did not bother us at all.)

Spinnakers Brewpub runs the guesthouses and cottage, as well as making exceptionally good beers, baked goods, and chocolates. Every morning, someone from the pub brought our breakfast in a basket at the time we requested it. The baked goods, fresh fruit, and juice were delicious. After sight seeing during the day, we loved coming back to our cottage to freshen up, relax, and then walk down the garden path to the pub for dinner. The menu was varied and everything prepared well with fresh fish and locally grown vegetables.

Since Spinnakers is on Victoria's inner harbor, we could walk on the path along the water and be in downtown Victoria in 15 minutes. I highly recommend this unique place to stay.

I stayed in room 10 for a month this past winter and had a fantastic time. The room was an entire house!!! The staff were great, very accommodating and took care of our every need. They even delivered room service when it was snowing! The room was very clean and comfortable for stays of any duration and it's literally crawling distance from the pub which is good you are a beer fan!

Spinnaker's is a really great brewpub, but it has a few hidden gems. First of all their Guesthouse is perfect. It's a romantic old English style home with lovely rooms. Secondly the food in the pub isn't your typical greasy fries, it's delicious! Third their beer, I loved it!! Fourth the freshly made breakfast is brought to room every morning. And last but nog least all their homemade food they sell, jummy!!
