“A different lunch setting in a very special place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

We went there with friends living in the area and got a view of that very old and special building. You can almost feel the importance of all decisions that has been made within these walls.
The lunch restaurants are located in the basement area of the building, and offer a few tables with white linen tablecloth.
The different choices of dishes are fairly standard, but tasty and the service is outstanding.

Prices were really affordable and together with the atmospheric feeling, made this lunch stop very memorable. This place is a well hidden gem.

“Love this gracious dining room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

After trading your id card for a pass, go downstairs through marbled hallways to the beautiful dining room. White tablecloths & gracious service evoke a bygone era, but the food is up to date, delicious & moderately priced, including daily specials. This is a hidden treasure, but the locals flock here, so reservations may be a good idea for their breakfasts or lunches.

“Great Experience while Visiting Victoria”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

The dining room in the BC Legislative Assembly is open to the public for breakfast and lunch (i am not sure about dinner). It is where the government members dine when the assembly is in session. It is a very unique setting in the basement of the building and features a great number of very interesting photos showing the history of Victoria and the government buildings.

We went for breakfast one morning and had great food at a very reasonble price and were served by a charming and very knowledgeable staff member. We sat at a corner table in a small room off the main dining room which we were told is the premier's table when the legislature is in session.

It is a very interesting thing to do while visiting Victoria, reasonably priced food and good for families. Go to Security in the building and they will give you a pass and directions to the dining room.

“Fascinating find in Victoria.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012 via mobile

You will need photo id, exchanged at security for a pass, to gain access. Often but not allways one might need to reserve ahead. They serve breakfast and lunch. This "now being discovered" restaurant is in the basement of the BC legislature buildings in Victoria. The decor is a 1950's restoration of a turn of the century (Victorian) room. The food is quite adequate, from club house, to a roast, to hamburger and fries, it is licensed. A most interesting glimpse at the BC legislature!

“Terrific cafe in a very interesting location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

Visit the Legislative Dining Room for excellent food at very reasonable prices! You will need your passport - this is a government building and you have to show ID. We visited the small gift shop and enjoyed some of the exhibits before going downstairs to the cafe. I think it is open only for breakfast and lunch.
