“Consistently Enjoyable...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

Some friends introduced us to this hidden jewel a few years ago. At that time, Heron Rock was offering a choice of a great pasta dish with a glass of wine for $20 (in addition to regular menu choices); the dinner deal was specific to one day of the week and we took advantage of it on a few occasions. We have since dined at Heron Rock numerous times for both lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed. Dishes are always interesting and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the servers always strike me as a cut above. Overall, Heron Rock offers excellent value wrapped in a friendly warm environment.

“We'll be back.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

We came upon this little restaurant by chance and are very glad we did. All of our meals were very tasty, service was good, and atmosphere pleasant. We will certainly return the next time we visit our daughter in Victoria.

“Hiding in James Bay...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

I hesitate to write this review, because we love our little neighbourhood bistro - and part of me doesn't want it "discovered". In fairness to all, it's an unpretentious, casual and friendly spot that offers breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner with live music some evenings. The kitchen concentrates on locally available food - organic when possible - and does wonders with simple dishes. We have yet to have even a so-so meal - for us it has always been a delicious treat. Local beers on tap and good wines. On a recent visit, several generations were in our party and everyone was thrilled with the meals. Save room for the Stilton Cheesecake!

“Great food - great atmosphere - awesome selection”

I am going back - so much that I want to try. My friend had the crab benny - I had fish & chips: both meals were delicious and good coffee.

“off the tourist track is a gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

A nice restaurant in James Bay which is about a ten minute walk from most of the hotels. The food is fresh, creative, and local. The chef just returned from New Orleans and will try a little Pacific NW/NOLA fusion if you let him. Good wine values with local beers on tap. Nice service. Will go again on the next trip to Victoria.
