“Amazing trestle bridge and lovely drive to get there”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

Well worth the drive from Victoria to see this restored train trestle bridge. Nice walk from the car park to the bridge, great photo opportunities and picnic area if you need it. The walk, 1 kilometer, is flat and easy but probably slippery if there was snow or ice on the ground.

“Amazing Restoration”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

We really enjoyed our walk across the trestle and the short hike down the pathway to a viewing area where you can look up at the huge wooden structure. From below it is even more awesome.

The last train crossed the trestle in 1979 and it remained unused until last year. After extensive restoration, this remarkable addition to the Trans Canada Trail was re-opened. It is great destination for walking/hiking/biking and there is plenty of parking. Part of the area has steep terrain and the Koksilah River flows through the ravine far below. Children need to be carefully monitored.

We have been back several times with friends. Exit signage from the highway is good but we missed the turn near Shawnigan Lake School first time around.

“Well worth the drive from Victoria!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

(how to get there: http://www.cvrd.bc.ca/index.aspx?NID=1379) We parked our car and walked to the trestle. When we got there, a number of local bicycle riders were on the trestle. We told them we were from the U.S., and they wondered how we knew about the Kinsol. Apparently most visitors are Canadian. If you are on Vancouver Island, I highly recommend visiting this impressive structure. Also, the locals are real friendly people.

“Beautiful walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

A lovely walk, just under 1km, to a beautiful site. Take the time to really enjoy the views, and be aware! You WILL want to jump into the pools!

“Impressive structure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

We got there by bike, short ride from a parking lot on the side of the Cowichan Valley Trail, and spent about an hour wandering around and taking pictures. The trestle is really big and it's nice that there's an easy trail to get all the way to the bottom and get a view up. There seemed to be some trails by the side of the creek as well if one wanted to explore the area more. We biked back on the trail all the way to Shawnigan Lake.
