“Solid carbo-Pad meal.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2014

Thai food has this reputation of being a street food that is cooked hot, served fast, and satisfies without overpowering your appetite. Looks like all the boxes are filled on this checklist.

Service: Walked in without reservations. No problems. Was given an early-bird special menu on top of the regular one. Drinks are filled fast. Plates are arriving at the right pace. The waiter is in the zone.

Choices:
Spring rolls x2. $5.25. Excellent. Crisp, crunchy and tasty.

Tofu delight. $8.95. Deep-fried tampura style. Average.
Tofu without any spicing is well... bland. And the secret to tampura is the batter.

Pad see-iew with chicken. $12.5. Fat rice noodles come in a deep square dish. Sauce is good. Portion is generous enough for a carbo-load dinner.

Thai iced tea. Fresh summer drink is topped off with a thumb-sized layer of cream. Excellent.

Check please:
No disappointment. Generous portions. Not spicy at all. BYO sriracha bottle.

“Be careful what you hope for”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2014 via mobile

Based on other reviews I thought I would try this out. After I sat down and lady at next table was about to leave and was not at all happy. Waiter apologized to us for her rant. Waited for food and waited and waited and the persons who came in 15 minutes after us had their starter and main course and we still waited. Lots of apologies. When food arrived it was very basic not like Thai food I am used to in other cities. Ordered a sweet. Big mistake. Another long wait. For Ice cream?. Cannot understand that one. Not recommended.

“Mouth watering…”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

When I was staying at the Renaissance I hiked over to Sala Thai on recommendation of a young lady at the hotel. The food was mouth-watering. The service was excellent. My water glass was never empty. I enjoyed the veggie spring rolls and tofu red curry. The food was rich in flavor and cooked to perfection.

“Pleasantly surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

I love Thai food and having read some reviews for other Thai places in Vancouver I was a little hesitant. But Sala Thai was a great choice to satisfy my Thai craving. Our waitress was super friendly and made our experience great. The food was fresh and delicious. And the atmosphere was very authentic. I would defiantly go back.

“Quite Edible - nothing spectacular”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

Had great hopes for this restaurant - seemed very authentic. Staff were friendly, and helpful. I had the Pad Thai - and it was a little bland. Decor was appropriate and location is great.
