With so many Thai eateries in Vancouver you would think that the competition keeps them sharp. Not so at this restaurant, Khai Thai, which misses the mark. We started with the mixed appetizer, Ruam Mir, which is a combination of chicken satay, spring roll, calamari and Tod Mann(a fish cake). We should have sent it back. The calamari were rubbery, greasy and cold as was the fish cake which was soo fishy. At times, My wife and I feel that the restaurant is putting its best food forward and if you have to send it back you will not get anything better ; resigned to our fate we plowed on. We had the Pad oyster sauce($13.95), and ordered the steamed jasmine rice($5.00 for a bowl.) The rice was the best part of the meal. We asked for mild Pad Thai, but the food was fiery, peppery hot, too hot to taste anything. It was then we told the waiter that our meal was not at all to our liking and were given our check. Try other Thai places, but not this one. We do not recommend it.
