“A nice bistro with a lovely view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

On our recent trip to Vancouver, we returned to Provence for lunch. We like this bistro for the lovely view on the marina and its fresh and delicious fish and seafood. Even if the place was packed and busy, we had an excellent meal and impeccable service.

“Very good food, excellent service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

We were there last night for a nice seafood meal. We had their prix fixe menu, with the wine flight. Our waiter Walter was knowledgeable and very pleasant. He helped us decide on our choices for wine as well as main courses. we found both the bouillabaisse and the sable fish were excellent. We also had a lovely artisanal cheese plate and lemon tart for dessert, and both were excellent. The restaurant itself could use a bit more of an intimate feel, especially given the lovely food they serve, as the layout is a bit too open and has a dining hall feel. All in all a good place to go for dinner. We would definitely return, but would ask for a table away from the center of the room.

“No bartender at the wine bar”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

We had been there before shortly after they first opened. To be expected there was a bar and a bartender who tended the bar. It was excellent. This time it wasn't so great. The service was poor and slow. There was a lot of staff behind the bar coming and going but it was no ones job to 'tend the bar' or so it seemed. Any 'bar chat' that happened was amongst the staff with little acknowledgement of the guests. I felt unimportant. I felt invisible.

It's a shame because over the years since we have lived in the same block as Provence it had become our 'go to' place. We could always count on the service and quality of food. Now I'm not so sure and would not recommend the wine bar to people -- it's not that special. I hope the restaurant side continues to be good.

“Kind of feel indifferent about this place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Came here with a couple girlfriends on a Friday night. We sat in the new wine bar section of the restaurant. We order a number of things off the Bites menu to share to start. (artichokes, risotto balls, bocochini and tomato, olives) They came out all together on one plate which for some reason just accentuated the fact that the portions were tiny. This is not a criticism of the serving size, we knew they were bites but they may want to consider serving each individually on smaller dishes. Anyway I guess I wouldn't have even mentioned it except we didn't think they were all that good either. They were okay but nothing really stood out as good. Since we were still hungry we ordered the cheese plate, which was quite good in portion size and taste. The main courses some of the neighboring tables ordered looked and smelled good so maybe we should have just skipped the appetizers and ordered meals.

The room is fairly small so you are close to your neighbours but we didn't find it loud or closed in. And there is a view out to the marina.

The best part of our experience was the service. Our waitress was a gem.

“So Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

We dined here with another couple last week, assumed since we were at a marina side restaurant it would be the perfect place to have a great seafood dinner- we were very wrong. To start the service was terrible our waiter mumbled the whole time and left us sitting with no drinks and did not check on us to see if we were enjoying our food, we actually had to flag down another server to grab him as my husbands boulibase was off very off as in bad seafood. After letting the server know he did get the kitchen to make something else but even then he did not check if everything was ok he ignored us until dessert was coming out. As we left I hoped the hostess was going to ask how everything was but she didnt. We wont be back
