“5 Star Service & Good Food Close to Theater”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014 via mobile

Glad to find good food and prompt happy servers in downtown so close to the theaters! Only 3 blocks to walk from the Kingston Taproom to see Wicked. Our server was accommodating and the food was pretty good. The best deal was the daily special, which was a burger, fries and a beer for only $10. Keep in mind that their normal burger is $17 (includes fries and a side salad). Would go back.

“Nice Atmosphere”

Great food, atmosphere was nice and service was great. A little pricey but worth it. Try the rice bowl with prawns...it was delicious.

“Very food but not great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

First, the good: Kingston Taphouse and Grille has some good dishes, like their salmon and chips, and they offer a decent gluten free menu. The place is huge, plays hockey games on several equally huge TVs, and is a hoppin' place to go with friends. The service is fast and friendly, and they offer a decent wine list at good prices and a varied beer menu that focuses on their own brews. They are close to Rogers Arena, BC Place and all of the downtown theatres, which makes this a no-brainer of a place to go. The not so goods? At $22, the nachos were WAY less than amazing, bordering on extortion, and you had to add another $5 for a handful of so-so chicken. I would never order them again....they sat like a lead weight in my stomach, and maybe that was mostly the price. Also, front desk staff (someone whose name starts with "J", you know who you are), how about you quit playing with your hair and actually do your job by greeting guests and acting happy that they are at your establishment ready to drop some money? Your sullen face greeting my friend and I almost made us walk back out. Luckily, we didn't and had a great waitress who made up for the initial impression. Would I go back? Definitely. Would I order nachos? No! Would I say something to Little Miss Grumpy? Probably.....
