Bo Kong is one of my favourite restaurants. I live a block away and eat there at least once a week. Located on Main Street just off of 15th Avenue East in Vancouver, the location is easily accessible. Vancouver is noted for its notoriously terrible parking. The Bo Kong has it's own parking lot on the south side of the building. The bus stops right in front of the restaurant. Usually there is lots of parking on 15th Avenue. Since the area of late has become a very popular restaurant locale parking becomes somewhat of an issue in the evening.
Bo Kong is air conditioned and the tables have table cloths. The waiters are all very friendly and are attired in shirt and tie. They are all knowledgeable about the menu and will make good suggestions if you aren't familiar with it.
The menu has many soup and appetizer selections. Usually I choose The small Thick Corn soup which is plenty for two people. The vegetarian Won Ton is very tasty too.
One of my favourite dishes is the Black Bean Skin Rolls.
The Bo Kong chefs are wizards in the number of ways that they can prepare tofu. One dish can be made up of three types of tofu all with very different flavours. There are many noodle dishes too and if you like it hot (picante) there are some great curry dishes to enjoy.
There are some fried dishes, hot pots and steam and pan fried as well.
Lunch has some specials and Dim Sum (which you have to ask for the menu). I prefer the dinner menu. There are photos in the menu to give you some ideas of a few selected dishes.
Don't be afraid to ask other diners what they are having. My wife always does and this has added to our Bo Kong adventure.
You can go back many times and always try something new.
Happy dining at Bo Kong.
