“The best babyboomer cocktail bar in Vancouver.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012 via mobile

Great service ambience and food. If you are tired of fighting lineups, bad service, so so food and generally being taken for granted; this is the place for you.
Is sophisticated a word that describes a restaurant atmosphere that encourages conversation in a tastefully appointed lounge? No review of this establishment would be complete sans mention of the intelligent knowledgable and conversant bartenders. Great evening at a great bar in Yaletown.

“Amazing seafood and amazing service; great for dates”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012 via mobile

It's my 3rd time going to this place, it's my girlfriend's and my favourite restaurant. We usually get bit of sushi from raw bar then some from the kitchen. Great service , the waiter is always nearby to help us and the foods great. Great place to take your date, I've recommended friends to take their dates there and they all had great experiences.

“An Exceptional Fresh Seafood Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

Everything about our dinner out at Blue Water was both perfect and exceptional. Rarely does food actually surprise me with a combination of its flavor, ingenuity and presentation, but Blue Water was a series of surprises, each one as pleasant as the next. First, neighborhood -- just what I was hoping for -- warehouse-y, trendy rehab - we almost walked by the place at first (tourists, oops!). Second, it was like some New York power supper club goes Northern Lights -- a beautiful, bold brick and beam interior without a hint of fern. Pools of light, warm tables, loud dinner chatter and an open kitchen along one side to bring the guests directly into the dinner experience. If possible, get a booth against the back wall -- it was the perfect place from which to watch the show that was dinner time (and we were there midweek, so clearly a big business crowd). We went local -- fish, oysters, shellfish -- in a variety of forms -- grilled, ceviche, poached. Even the desserts amazed. And the service? Top notch -- as good as we experience in San Francisco and New York. If you only get out for one dinner in Vancouver, this is definitely it.

“Perfectly prepared fish”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

We showed up at Blue Water Cafe at 6:00 p.m. on a Thursday evening, falsely reassured by our hotel concierge that we would not need a reservation. Wrong. Every table was booked until 9:30 p.m. We were offered a place at the sushi bar -- where all menu options were available. With two people, bar seating is a perfectly good solution, especially since there was no T.V. at the bar to distract from conversation. We were so glad we stayed. We both had the sable fish. It was perfectly prepared. There were reasonable wine-by-the-glass options. We split the dark chocolate cake with the brandy truffle center. Service was good. Prices were a bit higher than comparable places, especially given that no extras are included -- for example no bread and butter to start.
