“Wine and Jazz”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

Some friends & I heard about live music happening in their enclosed courtyard on a monday night which sounded interesting. We went along and felt very relaxed and comfortable in the courtyard setting and was very impressed with the extensive wine menu they have. All in all a good night of good wine, good jazz & good company. Would definately go back.

“Hidden Gem in Yaletown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

Brix is a great restaurant and I'm surprised that it isn't packed every night. The friendly yet professional service compliments the wonderful food and deep wine list. I have dined at Brix a number of times on occasions varying from a romantic dinner for two to late night burgers and beer after the game. Highlights for me were the duck breast from dinner and the beef bourguignon poutine. They also have live music and 30% off bottles of wine on mondays!

“Very good food, offset by poor service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

I rarely write poor reviews as I'm quite diligent in selecting dining locales. In this case, Brix was a tale of two experiences. The general atmosphere and ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. Unfortunately, we were seated on a cool, wet night right by an exit door. In hindsight, we should have asked for another table. The good news is that all of the food was excellent. We can recommend the Ling Cod, Duck and Halibut whole heartedly. The food was so good, I could 'almost' see myself going back again.

Unfortunately, the service was beyond poor which will preclude a return visit. It started right with the cocktail service. We were a group of six and all ordered together but the drinks came out as if a few were forgotten as they came ten minutes after the first. In regards to the Mains, one dish was totally forgotten and came after everyone else was done. (you can only wait so long or the food would get cold). If someone had checked in on our table or refreshed our wine we could have made them aware of the forgotten dish. Once it was realized the dish was forgotten, all service disappeared. We began to get up and get our own wine off the side table. One would think that after these gaffes we would get diligent service for dessert but the same problems continued. One person got their tea about 10 minutes after coffee service and the one ordered dessert came well after that. An apology from management finally came after many whispered conversations. In the end it's unfortunate that the Kitchen was let down so much by the Front of House on this night. Let's hope it was just a 'bad night' but given the restaurant was less than half full there really is no excuse.

“Fabulous service, food and wine list”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

My husband and I dined at Brix for our wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived we couldn't have been looked after any better. The wine list was incredible and we enjoyed the wine recommended to us by the staff. Food was very well presented and delicious. We sat inside rather than the courtyard and loved the room filled with candlelight.

“Yum!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

After checking out trip advisor for a good recommendation, we chose Brix and it was a great choice! I ordered a Stanley Park Amber and the vegetarian risotto and was not disappointed. We had great service and a really great time!
